very interesting book.I grew up very feminist, was aware of so much in the book, but the story really gave it a different perspective. considering myself mostly trans, I feel much like Jess towards the end - I would love to be female but i always think about the pleasant parts. Don't really think of all the bad. I'm sure those who go through with transition must be way more aware of a lot of it.Definitely worth reading

Jess used to be a man, is born in a girl’s body this time around, and grows up to be a woman. Her perspective on being a girl and woman while having her memories of being a man offers an understanding I’d never thought of. Really interesting book

There were a lot of opinions throughout this book that I have never thought about before, so it was interesting to read about her perspective. There were a few opinions that I wholeheartedly agreed with, and some that I had to laugh at. But, after all, the only way we can learn about the world is to listen to the thoughts of others. I can't say that my opinion about men has totally changed, but it certainly did make me more aware about a couple of issues.… (altro)

This isn't what I was expecting. Given the author's publishing record, I thought this would be a collection of essays discussing current affairs in the style of Chomsky, Singer or Patrick Grim but it's more a mishmash blog posts. I didn't see a lot of depth or information. Honestly, it didn't grip me. I was also irritated that half the book consists of empty pages. It may be useful to start classroom debate for secondary school students.

I received an ARC and am reviewing voluntarily.
