Good book. Austin is a champion bull rider who was badly injured during his last ride. After three months he has been released to finish his recovery and rehab on the family ranch. He's determined to get back on the rodeo circuit as soon as possible, and his slow progress has made him grumpy and hard to live with. His brother and sister-in-law hire Erin to provide the physical therapy that he needs.

Erin is a widow who lost her husband eighteen months earlier. He had been a Marine who was injured on his last deployment. She gave up her job to stay home and provide the therapy he needed until his death. Since then, she has been determined to have the family that she hadn't had with Jared. She takes the job with Austin to earn money for her IVF treatments.

I loved the first meeting between Austin and Erin. He makes some slightly suggestive remarks and she shoots him down in a hurry. There's a bit of a power struggle between the two of them and Erin comes out on top. He's used to being in charge and getting his way, but he needs her and her expertise, so he has to give in. Over the next couple weeks they butt heads on a regular basis, but Austin improvement is obvious. Underneath the banter and occasional snark is an undercurrent of attraction. But Austin doesn't do relationships, as they are a distraction, and Erin has no desire to have another man in her life.

I liked the development of Austin and Erin's relationship. They developed a pretty good friendship, to the point where Erin was able to tell him about her baby plans. She was also able to open up to him about her marriage, which helped him understand her. Austin's plans for his return to bull riding took a detour when he found out that he was the father of a three-month-old baby girl. Because he still isn't completely mobile, Austin talks Erin into helping him take care of little Lilly.

It was really sweet to see the three of them together. I loved seeing how quickly Austin took to being a daddy. He's nervous but determined to be everything that Lilly needs. Erin fell just as hard for that sweet little girl and watching Austin with her melted Erin's heart. But Erin had been badly betrayed by her husband and his actions, and getting involved with a man who would be leaving to go back to rodeo was something that she was unwilling to do. It was interesting to see the changes that Austin went through as he began to rethink his future. He knew that he wanted Erin to be part of it, but it took a while for him to realize just why. He has insecurities of his own and wants to have his plans set before he says anything to Erin. Meanwhile, her fears have her pushing him away as she tries to protect her heart. I wanted to shake her when she refused to listen to him. I ached for Austin, who was hurt and angry at her rejection. I loved the surprise that finally got them talking to each other. The epilogue was great, with another surprise, though not unexpected. It was great to see the whole family together.

The secondary characters were good. I loved seeing the relationships between Austin and his brothers, Cullen and Trent. The love and support were obvious, especially when it came to giving advice. I also liked seeing Austin and his father start to overcome their differences. The only one I didn't like was Austin's manager, Jay. He seemed more interested in what was in it for him rather than what was best for Austin. His attitude toward Erin was terrible and could be blamed for at least some of the trouble between her and Austin.

Good second chance story. Laurel and Kase had been high school sweethearts, until Kase went away to college. Then he decided that if he was going to make his dream of becoming a big-city lawyer come true, he was going to have to focus on his studies. So he broke things off with Laurel, breaking her heart. He went on to achieve his dream, but it also came with problems. Now he's come home to Hidden Springs, but he isn't alone.

It took Laurel a long time to risk her heart again, only to have it tromped on once more. This time, the man she chose turned out to be much worse. Not only did he leave her at the altar, he also embezzled money from the ranch. Laurel feels responsible, and is determined to pay back every bit of the money, even though her father and his business partner don't want her to. So she concentrates on training her horses, working her part-time job, and avoiding getting involved with another man.

It was obvious from the moment they met again that the sparks between them were still alive. Laurel tries to avoid Kase, not wanting to be hurt again, but finds herself ambushed at every turn by one very determined little girl. Kase has come home to help out his father on the ranch (the same one he couldn't wait to escape from) and to give his daughter a different life after the death of her drug addicted mother. He also wants to get away from his in-laws, who are fighting him for custody of Addy. Kase freely admits that he regrets his actions from before and would really like the chance to try again.

I loved the fact that Kase could acknowledge his own past stupidity. He was a bit hesitant about trying to get involved again because of Laurel's obvious reluctance. But with the way that little Addy took to her, Kase was willing to ask for Laurel's help with his daughter. His obvious love for Addy was really sweet, and I loved his determination to do whatever he had to in order to retain custody. This was especially important the more I learned about his in-laws.

I admit to getting a little frustrated with Laurel at times. I admired her desire to make amends for what had happened with the money, but her stubbornness was getting in the way of her moving on. I loved seeing Addy work her way past Laurel's walls, which then opened the door for Kase to follow her in. But she still isn't sure that she can trust Kase to stay in Hidden Springs and not leave, taking her heart once again. She tries pushing him away when she thinks she's gotten too close, but this time he's determined to do it right. I loved his big moment at the end, as he overcame all her fears.

The story of the custody battle was good, but the reason behind it wasn't really a surprise. With his in-laws' attitudes, and the way they had raised their daughter, Kase's determination was completely understandable. I also understood his worry, since they were "model citizens" and friends with the judge. I loved that it was Laurel that figured out the motivation and brought it to Kase's attention.

I was gifted this book for an honest review. Read this in one evening. Easy, feel good prose with memorable characters. A death of a loving Dad can lead to challenging paths for the family left behind. John Drennan had established a successful meat packing business in Chicago. Upon his untimely death gloom is felt even more when his wife Elizabeth marries Henry Jensen. Henry Jensen and his son Hank proceed to drive John's son John Jr. and his daughter Loretta out of not only the family business but also their own home. After years of absent from her home Loretta or Letty is summoned home by her ailing mother. Elizabeth trapped in an abusive marriage sends Letty to find her brother in Montana. Scared but determined Loretta sets out to find her brother in Morgan's Crossing Montana territory. The west in 1897 is dangerous and Lettie's travels are described wonderfully by the author. Plan to read more about these amazing citizens of Morgan's Crossing.

Very good book. Brooke's mother has developed Alzheimer's and has let slip the fact that Brooke has a twin sister. Now she has been charged with making contact with Laurel and bringing her to see their mother. Brooke is happy to know that she has a sister, but is worried about what her reaction to the news will be. When Brooke arrives at the ranch, she discovers that her sister and father are gone, leaving their neighbor Trent to look after things.

Trent is suspicious of Brooke at first, especially after he calls her father. Rory judges Brooke by what he knows of her mother and that isn't good. Keeping a close eye on her is no hardship, as Trent finds her beautiful and intriguing. I loved the way he did that by including her in ranch activities. I liked Trent's protectiveness toward his friends, and how that quickly extended to Brooke.

Even though she grew up in Las Vegas, Brooke takes to ranch life very quickly. There are some really fun scenes of her as she learns to ride and deals with the aftereffects of time in the saddle. She and Trent form a connection very quickly, but hesitate to think in terms of a future. Trent is carrying a boatload of guilt from the death of his little brother years ago, and thinks that makes him a bad bet for a relationship. As much as Brooke would like to think of staying in Colorado, she is committed to returning to Vegas to her job and taking care of her mother. Plus, there's more to her visit than she has shared with Trent, and she's certain that it will affect the way he looks at her.

I loved seeing them grow closer. When Laurel and Rory return to the ranch, things get both better and worse for Brooke. I loved seeing Trent's protectiveness toward Brooke and how he tried to ease things for her. Their attraction grew stronger and I loved seeing Brooke go after what she wanted from him, even though she knew there was no future. Trent is surprised by the strength of his feelings for her and begins to consider the possibility of more.

Then Brooke overhears something that sends her back to Vegas without revealing the biggest part of her news, hurt by the rejection she experienced. I ached for her and the loss she felt. I loved seeing Trent's confrontation with Rory, and Rory's shock at what he learns. I loved Trent's big moment as he shows Brooke exactly how he feels. The ending was emotional and the epilogue a nice segue into Laurel's story.

rabck box from bookstogive 11/09; cheesy romance set on a family's Arizona ranch. Emily wrote a screenplay about her family's homestead, which is being filmed on the original ranch. Film stunt rider, Reece, has custody of his niece and is easy on the eyes. True love like in the story line?

Good story about second chances. When Josie left the ranch ten years ago she left behind a father who had no time for his daughters and the memory of her first broken heart. She has come back to help one of her sisters with the guest lodge they are building and to reunite with her father. She doesn't expect to see Garrett, the one who broke her heart. She isn't interested in starting anything new with him, she'll be headed back to California soon. But it's hard to resist the attraction that is still strong between them.

When Josie comes back she's not sure if she's ready to see her father. She's been told that he's changed but she can't quite believe it. While putting it off a little longer she drives over to see how the construction on the new guest lodge is doing and runs into Garrett. Seeing him again makes her want to head right back to California but she's committed to helping for a couple weeks, so she can't avoid him. She doesn't want to accept his apologies for the past, but being thrown together with him they have to deal with their past. Part of her wants to be with him again, but their lives are too far apart for anything permanent and she doesn't want to lose her heart again. I was a bit frustrated with Josie. She was still angry about the fact that Garrett had married someone else and had a child, even though she was the one who had broken things off with him back then. She had gotten mad at him because he accepted an internship that would keep him away for the summer, but be important experience for him. I thought it was selfish of her then, and worse now because she didn't seem to see how selfish she had been and was still holding a grudge. I did like her relationship with Garrett's son, she was very good with him. As she and Garrett worked together their old feelings started to come back. Josie saw that she was falling for him again, but she was still thinking inside the box about how to have a relationship with him. I liked the way that it was Brody that came up with the perfect fix.

Garrett had moved back home with his son in order to help his father with his ranch and be able to give his son Brody more of his time. He is also keeping his building business going. He's given the Slaters a good deal on his work. He is surprised to see Josie. He has moved on past their history but still feels it's important for her to see his side of the story. He gets pretty frustrated with her attitude but keeps it under control so that they can work together. It doesn't take him long to realize that he's still interested in her. He knows she's supposed to leave but hopes he can convince her that they should at least try to see if they can make it. I loved the way that he even went back to California with her and helped her at one of her events. He was impressed with her abilities and made sure she knew it. His feelings deepen for her but she keeps pushing him away. I loved the way that he and Brody teamed up to convince her to stay.

The storyline with the girls' father is moving along also. Colt is recovering from his stroke and realizing even more how much he missed when the girls were young. I like the way he isn't trying to force reconciliation but let Josie know that he's sorry and wants to make things different now. I love seeing her reactions to the new Colt. There is also an interesting development at the end of the book that I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

Ana's father has had a stroke and can't run the ranch while he's recovering. Ana is made co-executor of the ranch along with ranch foreman Vance. Vance came to the ranch as a runaway when he was fourteen. Colt gave him a job but made it clear Vance was to leave his daughters alone. He's had it bad for Ana ever since, but knows to stay away from her. Now they have to work together to save the ranch from financial ruin.

This is a book with a lot of emotion in it. Ana is the only one of her sisters who has remained close to home. When their mother deserted them years ago it caused their father to completely withdraw from them. He was there physically but emotionally he was unavailable. The girls had tried everything they could but he pretty much ignored them. When Vance showed up suddenly he was getting all the attention the girls wanted. Ana especially resented it feeling doubly rejected. Now she is being forced to work with him and she doesn't like it. I mostly liked Ana. She was finally getting the chance she had wanted to be involved in the ranch. She didn't expect to have to share the duty with Vance and wasn't really happy about it. Then they found out that the ranch was in trouble financially and really have to work together to save it. Having to work with Vance so closely made Ana realize that, though she may resent his relationship with her father, she had feelings of her own for him. I really enjoyed seeing them get to know each other and learn what they had in common. I loved the way they were able to work together to find ways to help the ranch. Ana still has a lot of resentment against her father and also has a hard time letting go of some of the feelings against Vance. Just as their feelings are growing something comes up that sets Ana off again against Vance. Her reaction was really extreme and she ended up saying some really hurtful things. I was glad to see her come to her senses and especially apologize for what she said before they made up.

Vance had had a rough start in life. His mom deserted him and his father. Vance's father became an abusive alcoholic and when Vance was fourteen he'd had enough and left. He ended up being taken in by Colt and given a job and a place to live. Colt trained him in the ranch work and pretty much treated him as a son, except for telling him to stay away from the girls. All Vance really wanted was a place where he really felt like he belonged. He developed a crush on Ana early on, and except for one kiss when they were teens, managed to keep his distance. Now that they have to work together he's hoping to change that. I liked Vance a lot. He had worked hard for Colt and had come a long way. He is looking forward to working with Ana and having a chance to get closer to her. I really liked the way that he tried to show her that Colt's treatment of the girls wasn't his fault or his choice. I had high hopes that he was really getting through to her. I also liked the way that Vance supported Ana with the ideas she had for the ranch. His growing feelings for her were obvious. He was devastated by her reaction to the land problem and so hurt at the things she said. I felt terrible about what he was going through and what he decided to do to make things right. All he had really wanted was a family of his own with Ana. I was happy that Ana went to him at the end, he deserved the apology she gave him.

The storyline with Colt and the way he treated his daughters is very interesting. I like the fact that we are getting his thoughts and feelings. I'm looking forward to seeing how things go with his desire to make things right with the girls.

I enjoyed The Cowboy She Couldn't Forget. It is a clean romance, no detailed sex scenes. Divorce sure messes up everyone.
Ana Slater's father has had a stroke. She is needed to help run the ranch with Vance. When her mother left the family when she was young her father turned away from his daughters too.

Both Ana and Vance's mothers left them with their fathers and disappeared from their lives. (I can understand leaving for a day when kids drive you crazy) Their father's were not much better.

Ana is the oldest of four daughters. Their father turned away from them after their mother left. He let them help on the ranch only so much. He did have housekeeper who took care of them. They wanted to help out more be closer to their father but finally turning away from him and the ranch. Now it's Ana's turn to help all she wants on the ranch while her father is getting the help he needs.

The ranch is in trouble. Their federal lease is due and their is not enough money to pay it. They have six months to pay or they lose it.

Vance Rivers at fourteen finally had enough of his dad. His mother left him and his father would rather drink his paycheck. Vance was abused, did not have clothes that fit. Lots of times school lunch was all he had to eat. Vance decided to leave he climbed in a pickup and hid in back. He ended up at the ranch.

Colt gave him a room in the barn. He ate with the family and became close to him. He worked hard but it was a place to belong. He got three meals and a paycheck. Colt always liked Ana, his feelings never went away. Now maybe he could make a move.

Their are a lot of problems at the ranch. They are hurting like a lot of the country. Ana and Vance are working hard to save the ranch. I still have a lot of questions I want answered. I bet their will be more books Ana's sisters coming home and dealing with their dad. I hope we find out more about their mother and why she left. Where did she go?

I could imagine riding a horse and enjoying the magical meadow and fishing along the river. This book felt real. The scenes were believable and so were the answers and solutions could be real for so many people.

I was given this ebook to read and asked in exchange to give honest review from Netgalley.

Good book. I was glad to see Lori's sister Gina get her own story. Gina came to Destiny with her son to get away from her ex-husband who abused her. Then her ex showed up and kidnapped her son. Grady and his dog Scout were able to track Zack and bring him home. I really liked both Grady and Gina. Gina had the courage to get herself and her son away from her ex and start a new life. I loved the way that she was determined to stand on her own feet. She also was doing her best to give her son a normal life now so that he could be a kid again. She was surprised that she was so comfortable around Grady considering that she had trouble trusting men now. I liked the way that she was so tuned in to Grady's feelings and could tell when he was uncomfortable. I really liked the way she didn't push him to be something other than he was, but that she was not going to be pushed away either. Grady felt and acted like a loner. He had been married once but it didn't work out. He blamed himself and was sure that he wasn't meant to have a family of his own because of it. It was easy to see the nice guy under the gruff exterior. He didn't hesitate to jump in and help with the search for Zack and he was instrumental in capturing Gina's ex. I also loved how good he was with the dogs and how obvious it was that he cared for them. He was also great with Zack, not talking down to him and making sure he understood the responsibilities of caring for a dog. He kept insisting he would be leaving as soon as his grandfather was well enough, but he could also see that deep down he didn't want to go. He was afraid to hope that he could have a normal life. I loved the way that everything worked out for both of them.

4 Stars

So Jenny starts a different class for young girls and asks others to come and teach them the skills. First she has to get Gracie dad to let her come to the quilting class once a week.
Evan was not ready to let Gracie go anywhere. He wanted to protect her always. Evan just wanted to be left alone but no one would let him. With Jenny's help he started to connect better with Gracie and understand her better.
It was fun to see them grow closer together. Gracie got closer to other girls at school. In fact everyone was blooming. I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest reviews from Netgalley.

Heartwarming is the word i could use to describe the book. Gracie who lost her mother due to cancer found herself attached to Jenny against her father's wishes. Jenny, who came from a dyfunctional family determine to help Gracie to finish the quilt started by her late mother. And as anticipated in any romance story, both Jenny and Gracie's father; Evan find themselves to be attracted to each other against their own will.

I like the way the story was written.. not too lengthy and the narration are very simple. I like the feeling that was evoke by the story.. ;)

A lovely, tidy little read - the story of a grounded Air Force fighter pilot who is recuperating at his extended family's "compound" in Texas; there he meets the new vet in town who has a secret of her own to hide from the Randell family. They are a very likeable couple but each has a career they love and the idea of getting seriously involved with someone at this point in their lives is disturbing to them. I love ranch setting and cowboys, and books set in Texas and this one fits the bill in all aspects - the only recommendation or warning I would have to potential readers is: please read the author's "The Texas Brotherhood" series in order - I don't know where this particular book comes in the series but the comings & goings of previous couples was a little distracting, and just enough information was given about them that I don't feel the need to hunt down the previous books. Recommended for a nice quick, relaxing read.½
