I had mixed feelings about this story. First, I liked it because of the illustrations. Each page was bright and colorful. As I looked at each page, I could see the illustrator’s creativity. In addition, I liked the author’s writing style. I liked how she repeated phrases. As a result, this could be a great book to use for shared reading. I also liked that the author used literary devices like onomatopoeia, to add more effect to the story. Lastly, I liked the layout of each page. I like how the author does not have the text on each page in the same spot. I think it is great to have different text layouts because it adds variety within the page layout. This book is about a dinosaur who wants to be looked at as big and strong. His family refers to him as Little Rex, which he hates. However, when his baby dinosaur siblings hatch, they are afraid of him because he is big and strong, the two things Rex wished to be. He doesn't want to frighten the babies, so he says, "I'm little, see." Sweet story about caring about family.

Adorable illustrations, but the text was just so-so for me. The text felt a little long, and I think the story could have been distilled down to the essentials. For example, I don't think we needed to meet everyone Harriet saw on the way to her friend's house--they crop up again at the end of the story but I don't think they were necessary to tell the story.
