Nick Svendsen

Rather dry account of a 'small' war that was to have significant impact in coming years (it was one of the earliest steps toward German unification). Cannot tell if it is the author's writing style that is to blame or his command of the English language (Hr. Svendsen is Danish). Maps not very clear (it might have helped, had they been in color). For the most part, the jumble of names (commanders, etc.) is well-sorted, and there are extensive appendices on military equipment, casualties, cost of the war, etc., for those interested in such matters. (My own interest tends toward the political scene and, to a lesser extent, battlefield tactics.) -- Unlikely to be superseded in the immediate future, so half a loaf...… (altro)
