First in the Hill House Vintage Mysteries. The Brewster family have upped sticks and left London for the peace and quiet of the countryside in Norfolk. It would appear the countryside is anything but peaceful if Pudding Corner is anything to go by - the local primary school’s head teacher is found dead in his potting shed. Who would do such a thing in a such an idyllic place?

I really enjoyed this cosy murder mystery. It’s well written with some beautiful descriptions of the surrounding backdrop. Whilst I was reading this book I could hear Julie Andrews’ voice as the narrator in ‘Bridgerton’ in my head! It has that sort of vibe to me! 😄. Daphne makes a wonderful amateur sleuth and she’s also a great character. The plot flows along nicely and we get to meet some of the other interesting residents of Pudding Corner and Pepperbridge. It’s a real hive of activity and secrets hidden in the closet. The suspects mount up, the suspense increases and it rattles along to an exciting finish. An engaging and entertaining read. I look forward to the next book in the series.… (altro)
