I received this book from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review...thank you!
My grandson Sammy and I read this book together and we both enjoyed it very much. Sammy is participating in soccer and on Saturday during his game he scored his first goal and then another. He I received this book from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review...thank you!
was so excited that when we got home from his game he pulled this book out and we re-read it and we enjoyed it even more. This book was fun to read and teaches an important message about sportsmanship. Sammy and I are looking forward to reading Michael Stubben's first book Kickin' Lenny Saves The Day: Kickin' Lenny #1. I highly recommend.

I received this book from the reviewer list. My son and I both read it together. We both loved it. I'm glad for a book that isn't all blood or zombies or something else I don't want my son reading. This was a great feel good book with a great moral story. When I asked my son if he liked it and he grins. I would recommend it to anyone with kids.

This is a great chapter book. My 8 year old twins both enjoyed it, specially my son who is crazy about soccer. Not every book catches his eye, but this one did because it is everything he enjoys: soccer and funny lines. My son could relate to the story and the book did a great job reinforcing the message that practicing and doing your best is what really matters. Looking forward to getting more books in the series!

This is a pretty great kids book! The story is awesome! My kids really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't care for is how it was put onto page. Seemed very uneven at some points and maybe even crooked.½

Was given this book in exchange for honest review.

Yay! Manny and I have the same favourite soccer player :D. A great children book. The only problem that I have with this book is that the text & margins editing are not very well - done, so it sometimes hurts my eyes. Other than that, satisfactory.

My son loves this book. I Recieved from the members giveaway and gave it to my 10 year old son to read. He is also a soccer player and enjoyed reading lennys story. He said the book has great teamwork and its a fun, and good story. My son is picky with his reading so if he loved kicken lenny, then its a great book! :)

Stubben delivers a fun and entertaining book for today's young reader. "Kickin' Lenny Scores A Goal" is a well, thought-out story with important life lessons woven within its pages.
Written around the sport of soccer, Stubben descriptively includes several topics which children should be reminded of in today's world. Sportsmanship, supporting friends, doing your best, and having fun are just a few and are delivered with perfect humor.
The story is delivered in a way that is easy to comprehend for the young reader.
A definite asset to any library.

Teamwork, sportsmanship, brotherly love, and have fun while doing your best are just a few of the themes covered in this easy read chapter book aimed more to boys than girls. The soccer game comes alive with believable action and dialogue despite no illustrations. This appears to be the second book in a series, but nowhere is the first book's title mentioned but a teaser is given on the back cover of further adventures.I received a copy from LIbraryThing in return for a review.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. It should be note I’d won a copy of the first book of this series through a giveaway on LibraryThing.com and had written a review for it as well.

Once again, Michael Stubben has succeeded in communicating to young readers an important life lesson; this time the lesson Kichin’ Lenny learns deals with sportsmanship and teamwork.

While Lenny is a great goal keeper, his younger brother is a great scorer; and each longs to be like the other. When Lenny finally scores a goal, he enjoys what he has done and then realizes he has had the same fun feeling when he succeeds in blocking the goals being attempted by the other team.

The author in writing this book doesn’t talk down to the child reading it but draws the readers into the story and its lesson by addition of humor.

I’m pleased to give this book 5 STARS.

I had won Michael Stubben's first book in this series, Kickin' Lenny Saves The Day, through Library Thing's Member giveaway. I was happy to have been contacted by the author shortly thereafter to also receive this second book in the series for free. Thank you Mr. Stubbens.

This book was a nice story with a good message that young kids can benefit from. It shows that kids don't always need to be the goal scorer or team hero to still be a winner. It also shows that the small actions of team members are just as important, if not more so, than the big goal score at the end. Such a encouraging message for kids!

A few things need to be worked on for this book to earn a better rating. While I can understand and dismiss the lack of artwork inside, this can be a real turn off for younger readers. My youngest son, 10, said it was boring and didn't have any pictures. We agreed that many of the phrasings were awkward for the intended age of both speaker and reader. Some of the style used for speech felt out of place as did the choice of some wording. After reading this together we agreed that the intended message missed the mark. My son is a very outspoken advocate against bullying and didn't think this book would help at all. We received an ARC in exchange for our honest review. This in no way influenced our opinion which may or may not mirror your own.

I enjoyed this book. The idea of a younger brother (ninja) protecting his older brother is delightful. Lenny is starting kindergarten and being small leads to challenges. Bullying plays a part in the story and we see how Lennie overcomes that problem. I am looking forward to #2 in the series

I thought this was a very fun book and I think young children would enjoy reading it or having it read to them. The relationship between the two brothers was endearing. Manny looked up to his older brother and missed him while at school, and Lenny was sure to acknowledge and spend time with Manny whenever he could. It was easy to see these two brothers growing up together and having a strong bond. The ending where the kids were being bullied was short but effective.

Throughout most of the book Manny spoke like a true three-year-old, however there were a few times when I felt he used words that the majority of children his age would not know.

Overall I think this is a really good book and I look forward to reading their next adventure.

Kickin' Lenny Saves The Day is a cute story of Lenny and his best friend Adam starting kindergarten and their fears of not fitting in. Lenny's fears come true when he is made fun of after not doing well in kickball.

This is a cute story that kids will enjoy. However my only complaint is that there are no illustrations. I read this to my 3 year old granddaughter, and while she did listen she soon became fidgety and constantly closed the book to look at Lenny on the cover. She did ask me why there were no pictures.

I received this book from LibraryThing Members Giveaway.

A small three-year-old boy wants to protect his brother and friends as they head to Kindergarten. Brother Lenny and his friends try to fit in by playing games with the older boys. Some paragraphs are written near a 5th grade or ten-year-old level. Some story elements will appeal to pre-kindergarten boys, while the sports action will interest most grade school boys.

This was a cute story definitely geared towards younger children. It's a story that can be read to kids who can't read yet and also enjoyed by ones who can read. Because this story is short and easy to understand, it will hold the interest of many young children. I enjoyed the message about standing up to bullies and the relationship between the two brothers.

I was happy to have won this book from LibraryThing through their Members Giveaway. I have three young girls that will enjoy this story. Thank you.

Kickin' Lenny Saves The Day (Kickin' Lenny #1) by Michael Stubben tells the story of what happens when Lenny starts kindergarten. Lenny is a kind and loving child. His brother and sister love him and he has a wonderful best friend. Unfortunately, Lenny, his older sister and his best friend find themselves dealing with bullies. Unable to diffuse the situation with words, Lenny takes action and the bullies get a surprise.
The story is well written, humorous and easy to read. It is geared towards readers from age 6 to 9.

I received the book for free through LibraryThing and I give this review of my own free will.

I received a copy of this through a giveaway by the author here on LibraryThing.com in return for my honest review of the book.

It’s a somewhat daunting feeling to be the first one to ever review a book, especially since no one has come before you to have any influence in any manner in formulating your review.

I found “Kickin’ Lenny Saves The Day” [Kickin’ Lenny #1] to be a totally delightful, age-appropriate reading experience; although I’d place the age range for this book at children between the ages of five to eight.

The book deals with the unfortunate time we live in, a time where students are relentlessly being bullied on by those who are older simply because they feel their younger victims would simply succumb to their taunts without any resistance.

Mr. Stubben’s writing style clearly communicates to its own readers that bullies can be intimidated just as easily by their young victims with no one really getting hurt, except for their pride. The book accomplishes this by not talking down to the child reading this book.

While a purist might say the book contains a very small handful of errors; the reality is the dialogue is how children, the ages of the characters in the book, actually speak; which aids in accomplishing the overall goal for the book.

I’m glad the author has allowed his inner-child [Lenny’s three year old brother] to be the POV in which this book has been written as it adds a certain reality to the story children can easily relate to.

I’m looking forwards to reading the next book in the planned series by the author; and for his efforts, I’m giving this book 5 STARS.

Robin Leigh Morgan is the author of “I Kissed a Ghost,” a MG/YA Paranormal romance novel as well as the author of "Micro Fiction - An Anthology."

What an awesome story. Lenny is starting kindergarten and his little brother Manny looks up to his big brother. They already have a bond and their story is cute, funny and full of character and shares age appropriate growing pains. Mr. Stubben thanks for writing books for our young readers. All I can say is peanut butter is sticky and tie your shoe laces before you play kickball. If the bush is moving it might be manja..
