I was watching a film recently, THE HISTORY BOYS and one of the characters asks what is 'history'? His compadre casually turns around and says.."History is one damn thing after another". Strangely, I had just finished a political thriller DO AS I SAY by David Sterling. I was lucky enough to get a copy on Amazon Books. That quote resonated in my head while I read Mr. Sterling's taunt tale of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and how hsitory is created even fictionally one mistep after another.

Agent Bennett Mills works for an elite security detail assigned to protect a very prominent Arizona senator. After the senator is assassinated and the suspected murderer takes his own life..Agent Mills is given some vacation time until he is called back into service...

Feeling apprehensive not only about the questions swirling in his head about the 'plot holes' involving the sudden killing of the senator but also not really thrilled about visiting his family. The domino effect begins when a chance meeting unravels into a cat and mouse situation with a madman which spirals out of control...

The best part about reading such an involved and well paced thriller is the constant discoveries the reader witnesses along with the main protagonist.

I smell a series or I hope Mr. Sterling realizes what a creative character he has in Bennett Mills...
