The ca. dozed essays in this volume give an in-depth assessment of the work of Charlotte Salomon . I did not read all of them as they demand thorough study. Some of them, in particular the two introductory essays by the editors are a valuable introduction and, I think, indispensable in approaching Salomon’s multi-layered work. To benefit from the dense essay by Griselda Pollock familiarity with G.P.’s previous work and that of Walter Benjamin is required.
