I won this book in a giveaway on Library Thing. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟Amaranthine Poems of Love by Katharine L. Sparrow. This book is a collection of 54 poems of love in all varieties. Love of a parent, love of a child, love of a pet, true love and loss of love. It's all in here in a special variety. Love exists everywhere, sometimes you just have to look for it. Evocative and emotional. Raw and thoughtful. Just some words to describe the anthology of poems found in Sparrow’s Amaranthine. As mentioned at the beginning of the book, the poems run the gamut from romantic love to the love between friends and family members with styles and meters ranging from structured English sonnets to more freeform pieces. So there is a little something for everyone. A number of the poems outright spoke to me, whereas the balance were still enjoyable reads. On the whole, I found Amaranthine to be a great collection of poems.

While reading each and every one of these beautifully crafted poems, I found that they really and truly resonated with me. I especially love the ones about winter and heartbreak, as those are two very strong topics to me. I certainly hope to read more poems like these in the near future. All in all, this was a fantastic read and I thoroughly enjoyed each of the poems.

I understand that this was the first published works by this author and some of the poems were good. But the majority of them just didn't do anything for me. I understand that it was your pain and your breakup that you are writing about but it really didn't come through. I do say keep writing and let the words continue to flow and maybe the next book will be more about love and friendship.
