S. P. Somtow is a composer, film director, and author of over forty books His prolific output spans the genres of horror, science-fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, and children's literature. His work has won or been nominated for dozens of major awards, including the John W. Campbell Award, the mostra altro Locus, the Bram Stoker, the Hugo, and the World Fantasy Award He has written and directed two feature films -- The Laughing Dead and Ill met at Moonlight -- and will soon direct Timetwist from his own script. His epic ballet, Kaki, premiered as a Royal Command performance in Bangkok and he recently conducted the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra. Un secolo è trascorso dalla morte di Giulio Cesare, e Roma non ha certo dormito sui passati allori: i confini del suo impero vanno ora dall'Asia alle Americhe, le sue strade ospitano i primi scoppiettanti carri a motore, le sue prime incredibili navi solcano l'oceano portando meraviglie dal Nuovo Mondo. E' sullo sfondo di questo universo parallelo che il buon Tito Papiniano, duce della XXXIV Legione inviata contro i Parti, fa il suo primo incontro con Aquila, l'indomito capo pellerossa giunto a dare un amichevole aiuto al Grande Padre Bianco di Roma. Un incontro dalle imprevedibili conseguenze, questo è certo, poiché finirà col coinvolgere fra le altre cose una sperduta tribù di Olmechi, un malefico viaggiatore nel tempo e un'apparente invasione di dischi volanti.… (altro)
