The heart of the book is the information provided for each of the runes. Simonds describes the meaning, use, and lore associated with each rune. The pronunciation is also provided. It would have been helpful if the pronunciations of other Nordic names and terms were included in a glossary. Readers may want to read the meanings of the runes in part three before reading about rune practices in the previous section of the book. This may help in understanding the author’s explanations of rune spreads given in part two. This is a volume meant for beginners and provides an informative overview.
