The writing was a bit choppy but oh my word, I liked it.

This short story can be found for free on the author's website.

Content: clean, no worries here

This book had potential however, there was such a strong focus on the war right from the beginning, which I was not fond of. It was also strange that the MC and her enemies were so close (literally) and shared information. I assume that Farrin is going to be the love-interest in the next book, but his behavior was still odd considering that he is on the opposite side. I also missed the humor of K.M. Shea's urban fantasy books.

Dnf for now. Just not in the mood at the moment. I will most likely come back to the book once the whole series has released.

Read but did not enjoy the first book. Might read 2 & 3 in the future.

Just finished this book ten minutes ago. Is it too early for a reread?

Did I read nonstop all day?
You’d better believe it.

You can’t stop with that cliffhanger!

It is the highlight of the winter months when K.M. Shea releases a new urban fantasy series.

My KU sub expired while I was reading this so I'll come back to The King's Shadow when I resume the subscription in the summer.

This was a very good Retelling of Goose Girl and I enjoyed all the different characters as well as the occasional references to other fairy tales. Falada was really entertaining and I liked how him and Rynn slowly became friends. The epilogue was really nice and tied things together well. This was my first book by K.M. Shea and I plan to read more of her books as well as more of the books in this series in the future.

This was a thoroughly satisfying ending to the trilogy. I loved the main characters and their world. It would be nice to visit there again sometime.

This was such a fun book. It had a different take on paranormal creatures from any other books I have read. I enjoyed the story and the characters and will look forward to reading more books in the series.

This is a fun book. The characters are likable and the story line is enjoyable. It's a unique perspective on the paranormal in society. I'll definitely read more by this author.

I am so glad the author decided to create this set of short stories to accompany this series. Each story gives us a peek into an important day in the characters' lives. It serves well as an epilogue and gives a sense of how their lives play out. Well done.

I liked this book. It touches the edges of several fairy tales, presenting them from the enchantress in training's viewpoint. I'm not sure if we'll revisit some of them later, but I suspect so. It took me a while to become invested in the characters, but I enjoyed it enough to continue on with the next book.

This is an enjoyable start to a new series. I like that the main character is discovering her strengths and growing as the story moves forward. The interplay among the wizards, vampires, weres, and fae is interesting as well. I'm curious to see if the factions are able to find common ground. I'm also looking forward to seeing how things play out for the main characters. I'll definitely continue on with the series.

I am loving this series. I so enjoyed seeing Hazel grow and learn to fight her battles. Her loyalty to the people in her life is one of her best character traits. I have also enjoyed her interactions with all of the Drake Family vampires, not just Killian. I'm looking forward to the next book.

I like that this series has yet another strong female lead. We got to meet Leila in a previous series and now we get to delve into her heritage and learn more about the fae. I love the addition of the night mares and it's great to see a little more of Hazel and Killian. I'll definitely continue with this series.

I love Leila! She is such a fun character. I can't wait for book 3 to see if my suspicions about where she's headed are correct. I can almost guarantee I'll be sad that this is just a trilogy and hopeful the author will continue writing in this world.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and am sorry to see it end. I'm truly hoping the author will choose to write more in this world. I want to see how life plays out for Leila and Hazel and the rest of the gang.

I am enjoying this series as I have all of the books set in Magiford. Jade is such a likeable character. It's easy to relate to her struggles to interact with people around her when she is not in work mode. Constantine has been quite fun to watch as he struggles with actually feeling something after all of his years as a vampire. Who wouldn't root for a vampire and a slayer to find a way to make a relationship work? Expect the unexpected in Magiford.
