Breve biografia
Harriette Robinson Shattuck was born in Lowell, Massachusetts. She was the eldest child of William Stevens Robinson, an anti-slavery, pro-women's rights journalist and his wife, Harriet Jane Hanson Robinson, also a writer and famed women's suffrage activist. Harriette attended Dr. Hendy's School in Boston, and also became active in the women's suffrage movement. She helped her mother organize the National Woman Suffrage Association of Massachusetts. In 1878, she married Sidney Duane Shattuck. She made her literary debut in 1870 with a dramatization of Charles Dickens' novel Our Mutual Friend, followed by several children's books, including The Story of Dante's Divine Comedy and Little Folks East and West. She also contributed articles to the Boston Transcript and the Poughkeepsie Evening Standard. As a leader for women's suffrage, she wrote The Woman's Manual of Parliamentary Law (1891). Among her other works were Shattuck's Advanced Rules of Parliament (1898), and a memoir of her father.
