Wonderfully funny cartoons of a hapless middle-aged man wandering through history and generally having the wrong take on every great event. "All I know is that a man named Guy Fawkes asked me to watch these barrels." Some are more subtle, and sometimes J.Wesley is not actually wrong, but they are almost always funny.

Extremely funny cartoons in which the confidently mediocre JWS blunders through history, always saying precisely the wrong thing. Requires significant history/literary knowledge to pick up all the allusions.

Several of these cartoons appear in another Burr Shafer book I have. I was a history major, and I dearly love Shafer's take on our beloved historical personages and hallowed events. (Some of the panels are funnier if you have a working knowledge of American history. But not too challenging - just the high spots.)

You don't have to be a history major to love these crazy cartoons.....but it helps!
