Reading Peter Seddon's Football talk book has helped me answer the 'Why do I like football question'. It is all about the history of the game - my liking of it rather than Seddon's book. Football talk is interesting despite this 2004 edition being out of date. It precedes the impact social media has had on the way we all talk about football and the influx of foreign players and managers and the way they speak. It is too early for the sudden explosion of interest in women's football. However, what I was intending to refer to was Seddon quoting Percy Young who in the 1950s said something like this: 'if you can take something that is not important seriously, i.e. football then it is much easier to take important things seriously'. I fully agree with that and believe that this applies to millions of people who watch football today

Enjoyable selection of stories from 80 years of the World Cup up to the 2010 qualifiers. No story is longer than three pages. Could be delved into but read it through. Some funny, some shocking - but a good selection. Read during the 2018 tournament!

An interesting read. Certainly nothing you can't find to read about online these days, but at least it was well written. Most of the cases were centered in the UK and it contained quite a few terms that some readers might not be familiar with. Overall it was an entertaining read and would make a great coffee table addition.

An interesting and quite amusing collection of strange and quirky tennis matches, including a few from the late Medieval/early modern era of Real Tennis. Perfect light reading for a summer in the garden.
