The horror in this book is reflection of emotions as the main character goes thru his time at the Beta House. There is another story woven every other chapter scratching at emotional scars of love, obsessions and losses.

The book provides a fantastic look at what Artificial Intelligence could provide in the way of a great assistance to humanity and the costs, fears and trials.

It was easy enough to see how it would turn out at the beginning of the book and there were no real big surprises or twists. Hence only a three star review.

This book is in my top 3 of 2023. What a fun and interesting ride. Some of you may know Sammy from his amazing short story collection, At Home With the Horrors, but this is debut full length novel, and it does not disappoint. Taking the cliche'ish "writer writing about a writer" premise and twisting it into so many surprises, it's easy to get sucked up into the story just to see where things end up next. As good as the movie Ex Machina was, this takes the futuristic AI and living quarters to a new extreme.… (altro)
