June 2018 - I didn’t totally bail on this book. I skimmed it. I was looking for more of a May Sarton type octogenarian journal but this was just an octogenarian giving her thoughts on being “old”.

At first I didn't get it but when I began to identify with her, it was fine. A contemplation on the loneliness, bad health of old age, waiting for death which, while constantly on your mind is not wanted

This book has such marvelous reviews I was quite disappointed at first. But the issues that I had revolved around issues of feminist philosophy and the notion of equality, and Scott-Maxwell herself learned to reconcile her age with her times (or vice versa?). It provided a good quality discussion with my "older women."
