A beautiful story about grief, fatherhood, & the insecurity and existential sense of risk that have emerged as the hallmark of twenty-first century American life. Fine storytelling, shimmering prose, and wonderful, insider descriptions of playing tennis that actually run through my head like a mantra as I play--and grieve.

Well written first novel about a family of men, the Wolinsky's, and one summer in their life. The elderly uncle and father live alone, and the son, Max (recently divorced) has returned to his home town for his son's bar mitzvah. Slow starting, but very enjoyable. Look forward from more from the author.
