Book Title: Cyber Security is Everybody's Business
Author: Scott N. Schober with Craig W. Schober
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Cyber Security is Everybody's Business ' clearly states the importance and existence of Cyber Security literally everywhere.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is an illustration of the tag line of the book ' Solve the Security Puzzle for Your Small Business and Home ' with puzzle pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

About the author:
Scott N. Schober is the author of two successful cybersecurity books. Hacked Again was written about his own experience of being hacked and how he overcame it. Scott's 2nd book (co-authored with his brother Craig Schober) is entitled Cyber Security is Everybody's Business and was written with small business owners, their employees and every consumer worried about keeping their data private and secure from hackers.

Scott is the President and CEO of Berkeley Varitronics Systems (BVS), a forty-six-year-old New Jersey-based privately held company and leading provider of advanced, world-class wireless test and security solutions. Schober also invented BVS’s cell phone detection tools, used to enforce a “no cell phone policy” in prisons and secure government facilities. Scott is a highly sought-after subject expert on the topic of cybersecurity.

Scott's media appearances include ABC News, Bill O’Reilly, Bloomberg TV, Al Jazeera America, CBS This Morning News, CCTV America, CNBC, CNN, Fox Business, Fox News, Good Morning America, Inside Edition, MSNBC, and many more. His precautionary advice is heard on dozens of radio stations such as NPR, XM Sirius Radio, Bloomberg Radio, and The Peggy Smedley Show. Scott has been interviewed in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, Success, Newsweek, USA Today, and The New York Times.

A nationally recognized expert, Scott regularly attends conferences including RSA 2018, FutureCon 2019, SecureWorld and Cyber Investing Summit as a keynote speaker and panel expert. His expertise extends to topics including the future of wireless technology, protection from insider threats, susceptibility to cyber breaches, the impact of drones, and distracted driving technology.

About the book:
Since the publication of his first book, HACKED AGAIN, Scott Schober has dedicated himself to educating anyone who would listen by telling his own story of being hacked in the hope that others can learn from his own mistakes. Now joined by his brother Craig, the two have set their sights on the biggest target of all, small businesses.

There are 30 million small businesses currently operating in the United States. Some of them are the single owner/operated while others collectively employ hundreds of millions. This book is for all of them and anyone who makes it their business to stay safe from phishing attacks, malware spying, ransomware, identity theft, major breaches and hackers who would compromise their security. We are all in this together which is why cybersecurity is everybody’s business.

Throughout CYBERSECURITY IS EVERYBODY'S BUSINESS, Scott and Craig not only contextualize the impact of these cyber attacks on your small business and daily lives, but also provide expert insight and a plan of attack for fending off future security breaches. Through tips and advice gained since his last book, Scott offers hope in the ever-changing world of cybersecurity

My review:
'Cybersecurity is defined as technologies and processes constructed to protect computers, computer hardware, software, networks and data from unauthorized access, vulnerabilities supplied through the Internet by cybercriminals, terrorist groups, and hackers. Cybersecurity is related to protecting your internet and network-based digital equipment and information from unauthorized access and alteration. The Internet was actually constructed to link autonomous computers for resource sharing and to provide a common platform to the community of researchers. As internet offers, on the one hand, a huge number of benefits and on the other hand it also provides equal opportunities for cyber-terrorists and hackers.'

'Cybersecurity is now considered an important part of individuals and families, as well as organizations, governments, educational institutions and our business. It is essential for families and parents to protect the children and family members from online fraud.'

In this book, the author presents before his readers the simple and effective way of securing their data and systems. The change of a password on regular intervals is one of the easiest yet very important practice is what Scott explains. There are some very interesting tales and details about various breaches happened around the world and it is astonishing to read that it happened with and in big companies like Yahoo and Equinox. We often tend to forget the primary duties in safeguarding our data and later after the cyber attack we cry foul. There must be a regular exercise done by following certain procedures as explained in the book to stay away from being trapped in the various types of cyberattacks.

A detailed synopsis on sites that offer pleasure and entertainment, online products and cryptocurrency banking are interesting to read. The frauds that happen within a snap of the finger are very well described. The book in a way acts a good guide to everyone who is aware and also not aware of certain types of crimes that happen in the digital world.

The most amusing part of the book is, towards the ending of the book there is quiz and to my startling surprise I scored low after being in the Software World for more than a decade. It is then I understood how easily we take things and then feel deceived. Thanks to Scott for rekindling the sense of emergency in safeguarding my data.

My Final Verdict:
A must-read book to save oneself from being prey to cybercrimes.

After reading Hacked Again By Scott Schober a few years ago, I was looking forward to reading his next book. Cybersecurity is Everybody’s Business did not disappoint
.
In this book, Schober explains how everyone in a business from the entry-level employee, to the C-suite executives as well as people personally should be aware of cybersecurity threats and how to minimize their impact.

Schober breaks this book into three sections. Part 1 discusses many types of cybersecurity threats and explains with details that non information technology focused readers can understand. This section also introduces tips on how to reduce your digital footprint and hopefully improve your personal security. Part 2 details the larger security breaches in the news from Anthem to Yahoo and many well-known events in between. Finally, Part 3 delves into the future, starting today, by covering emerging threats like drones and credit card skimming.

Similar to Hacked Again, Cybersecurity is Everybody’s Business is a straight-forward read and divided into easy to digest chapters. The approach Schober takes is conversational helping the reader feel that he is talking directly to you (He is!) Most everyone will learn from Schober, whether you have minimal knowledge in cybersecurity or work in the cybersecurity field as I do.

**Disclaimer** I was provided this book to read with the goal of me writing a review. That being said, the review rating and written text are all my own. Cybersecurity is Everybody’s Business is straightforward enough where businesses can, and should, use this book as part of their security awareness program. (Companies do have those right?)

I must say, I was surprised after reading this book by Scott Schober. I was expecting a dry IT manual describing security aspects of hacking. What I read was a book that was both engaging and full of humility. Schober and his company have been hacked a number of times and he has no qualms about sharing what happened and why so any normal person can understand and learn the lessons he learned. This is very different from many IT books the only talk about the knowledge an expert may have but not touch upon the hardships in acquiring that knowledge.

Hacked Again is a very easy read which I completed in about a day. The chapters are in easy, manageable bites that allow the reader to digest the information in small doses but I found that I could not set the book down. Schober has the ability to take technical topics and present them in a way that non-technical people will find easy to understand.

Schober describes how individuals and business can work to prevent attacks, or at least minimize them, how hackers will go about gathering information for an attack, and how you should handle an attack after it occurs. All from his own experience. The tips may seem obvious but if they are so obvious, why are hackers so successful? Probably because many do not follow the tips. Schober wraps the tips into his personal narrative and drives home what can happen in an attack. By presenting the tips this way, hopefully more people will adhere to the tips. I know I have reconsidered my social network usage and how I treat passwords simply by reading this book.

So who is this book for? Anyone who wants to understand how cyber attacks happen and what they can do to make them a less attractive target to hackers. If you like learning from others experience, especially from someone who is a security expert yet was still hacked, this book is for you.

**Disclaimer** I was provided this book to read with the goal of me writing a review. That being said, The review rating and written text are all my own and this book deserves them. I wish I came across Hacked Again earlier so I could have implemented these tips earlier.
