Tuula Salakari

A wonderful and unique book about the immense production with all of its branches of the Kupittaan Savi factory. Author Tuula Salakari has made excellent work with her co-author the adjunct professor of art history from the University of Helsinki and the University of Turku. In this book they insert the famous factory on the map. It was functioning from the 1920s to 1969. It began as a brick factory and bricks were its main product for many years. Kupittaan Savi has made the well-known yellow bricks (not gold though) for the Aalto University School of Economy wall in Helsinki and for the Main Post Office building in the centre of Helsinki near the Main Railway Station. The diverse and vast production for construction work and of different dish for various purposes in household and decorative and artistic items make Kupittaan Savi unique and one of the most prominent industrial art manufacturers in Finland. This book is both very interesting and necessary to collectors and those who wish to learn about Finnish arts and crafts and industrial history.… (altro)
