Chock full of very useful information. The writing is clear and often humorous. My only quibble is that the indexing is screwed up so finding something by topic is difficult. I will be keeping this one handy for years. ;o)

I will be keeping an eye out for more of the 'What Nurses Know... ' books.

This book will inform you, whether you know a little or a lot about what is happening to you. Roush covers every issue, from definitions to vitamins to mental health. Although I read the book cover to cover, I feel that you could use it as a reference to answer those questions you have now, and save the rest for later. I would recommend it to anyone that is anticipating the menopause years.

One quibble: I looked for something in the index that I had read earlier in the day and the page numbers were incorrect.… (altro)

Good place for those just learning about PCOS to start. At the end of each chapter there are excellent resources for further reading. Perhaps what I enjoyed most were the "testimonials" in each chapter from two women who have PCOS. They did a good job of showing the reader that the symptoms and experience of having PCOS is different for everyone, and that what may be true for one person is not necessarily true for all.

What Nurses Know... Menopause by Karen Roush is a very readable and very informative book that touches on many aspects of menopause. I learned new things in every chapter and was reminded of things that I had been taught many years ago. It also gave me vital and current information with which to make decisions about hormone therapy in any of its forms. The chapters on bone health and sexuality were interesting, as well as the one on weight management. I got a little confused with some of the acronyms and some I had to go back in the text to look up. This is a small complaint, though, and may be due to the foggy brain of a menopausal woman! I recommend this book highly. Lots of good, current information and great tips for coping with all the changes. I plan to read this through a second time with highlighter in hand and keep it close for handy reference.
