The Baby Animals' Party di Katharine Ross
Animals collect gifts for their friend's birthday.
Um, really? It starts out being weird, having skunks on a 'desert island' and is sexist all through. I guess I like it that two different children did learn to play together, but I certainly wouldn't recommend this.
I like this book. I believe that the illustrations are very important in this book as they help to tell the story. For example, the image of the little ballerina peaking into the "biggest" girls class. I like that this book incorporates ballet vocabulary in French. I believe that it shows that the little ballerina is learning. I also like that this book is inclusive in saying "The mothers- and a few fathers-" when discussing helping the girls with costumes. I believe this type of language is important because maybe not all of the little ballerinas have mothers. The message of this story is that if you practice hard then your dreams will come true.… (altro)
