Katerina “Kat” Mills has an idea of what a “fixer” is. She used to help her former boss/lover, lawyer Phil Castle do the fixing for wealthy clients, but she barely scratched the surface of that particular world before she dumped Phil’s ass. Now, working in dead end mind-numbing temp jobs she answers her phone late one night to one of Phil’s clients. Joe Lessing is in a panic. He needs a fixer and he can’t get ahold of Phil. He begs Kat to help and when he offers a substantial amount of cash to do it, she accepts. This event sets off a chain reaction and before she knows it Kat has begun her first real foray into the fixer world. What has she gotten herself into?

I read books. I watch movies. I know what a fixer is. I know there are different aspects of fixing. But this story really puts it into perspective. Kat is in way over her head. It’s not just the reader who knows this. Kat knows it, too. But she needs the money and she’s smart and a quick thinker. So away she goes. Kat is awesome, other characters are interesting (especially Alexander Winter) and the world is fascinating. Kat’s not bad for a newbie, but I’m scared for her. This is a dangerous world and I really don’t like Phil. I do look forward to more books in this series.

Kat’s a Fixer. You have a people problem, just give her a call and she will get take care of it.

Illegally…maybe.

Then…why is she dating Detective Ryan Kelllan, whose search for answers in the murder of Felicia Reynolds touches awfully close to home and her secret.

The more work she does, the deeper she gets. She witnessed a murder. Her father is being hunted and they think she has answers.

Bad guys…good guys…they all want her.

Danger surrounds her…does anyone ever get out?

And then there’s Alexander Winter. I have a picture in my mind of this fascinating character and he is someone who intrigues me. He leaves me wiith more questions than answers.

The Fixer was thought provoking and I enjoy mulling over the questions left to answer after having read a novel.

Have you ever wondered how you got into a situation? And how far is too far.?

Pretending to be someone else can be a fun adventure, but what do you do when the bill comes due?

A little more sense of urgency and maybe some more details of the incidents and her feelings would bump up my rating, but one thing is for sure…I want more of her story which doesn’t end here.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of The Fixer by Jill Amy Rosenblatt.

See publisher's blurb for plot clues. Well crafted suspense told by Katerina herself. Altogether too believable tale of desperation and working to overcome many things at once. Looking forward to next in series!

I don't want to be cliche and repeat what all the other reviewers are saying, but it definitely was a good chick-lit that had a great message about being yourself. This is about a girl named Joan, who finds everything going wrong, and it just so happens that everything has to do with a 'Jennifer'. So Joan decides to undergo Project Jennifer and change herself into a Jennifer and learns the importance of being yourself. The character was someone everyone could relate to and there were lots of laugh out loud moments for me. In the beginning the author sort of repeated a couple tidbits or events (about Jennifer) and I was worried it was going to be repetitive. But it ended up coming together very well. This was a cute chick lit!… (altro)
