This is an informational book telling about all the things trains are used for. It tells about how trains carry cargo and people. The book ends with showing pictures and diagrams of the different parts of the train. This is a great book to use for instruction during a unit about transportation. It tells the very important details that children need to know when it comes to what they do and how they look. Definitely a book I would use in my classroom.

This book was all about trains. It talked about the different parts of a train. It also showed the ways to drive a train and how fast a train should be driven.

This book could be used for teaching kids about trains. I think it would be more of a hit with the younger boys in a class. It would depend on the child's reading level as to whether or not he or she can understand this.

Cherry Pickers by Hal Rogers is a good book for students to read to help them understand what a cherry picker is, how it works, what are the parts of a cherry picker, how to steer it and what jobs it is used for. Many teachers check this book out when doing a lesson on farms and farm machinery, The illustrations are done simply so that a child can see the parts clearly, On almost every page the illustrator has placed a red arrow pointing to the object that is being described by the author,. There is also a caption for every picture that tells what is happening in each picture. On the page next to the picture, the author starts each page with a question.
This book has a Table of Contents, Glossary, Index, a Books to Go Along With this section, and a Web Sites page for students to get more information to visit.
This is a good book for teachers and parents to read to young children, as well as a good tool to work on Informational skills.
The Accelerated Reading level is 2.4.
