Martha Rhodes

In this collection, Rhodes pens a contemporary lyric that deals with illness, love, and lacking. She uses various metaphors and conceits throughout, in addition to what seems purposefully placed and employed bits of disarmingly prosaic phrases. Her techniques and style work better in some poems than others, but the best poems here are pointed and inventive portrayals of midlife entropy.
