I read this book as part of the Christian Group Only Review Group. The author details various events throughout his childhood and life which have obviously shaped who he has become as a person. The author is a Pastor. The theme of the book is that as Christian's we need to be broken and acknowledge our brokenness in order to be repaired by God. I agree with this in principle as sin has broken all of us and it is only through repentance and faith that we can be made whole in Jesus and come into a right relationship with God. However, I felt that the perspective offered was quite cynical and negative about life in places and that although this may help some to relate to him as an author, it wouldn't necessarily help these people to turn to God for their help and comfort. I also felt that some of the Bible stories used had been taken out of context to match the perspective of the author. Having said that it is a book worth reading as it is quite unusual and the author is extremely honest about his personal journey and struggles in life. An interesting read.… (altro)
