His letters to his parents and nine younger siblings chronicle everyday life in boot camp, embarkation points and into France and Germany during the Battle of the Bulge. Must reading for the life and feelings of the young GI, and from the reader's point (thinking of the family and friends at home), a reminder that, "They serve who also stand and wait."
