Catherine Rankovic

Interesting concept for a book. Rankovic is a poet/essayist/teacher in St. Louis, and during her early journalism years, she interviewed various authors in the 1990s for local publications. She has collected 13 of these interviews in this book. As an interviewer, she doesn't ask all the canned questions, and there is some very interesting information in here. The writers interviewed are St. Louis natives or writers with a strong connection to St. Louis: Eric Pankey, Harper Barnes, Tess Gallagher, Jean-Claude Baker, Carl Phillips, Donald Finkel, Ntozake Shange, Eddy L. Harris, John N. Morris, Gerald Early, Kathleen Finneran, Qiu Xiaolong, and Jane O. Wayne.
