Not bad, but not great. One big detractor is that - because of its publication date - it uses the polytonic accent system rather the new monotonic system. In my opinion that makes it harder for a beginner to read, since chances are, you're not familiar with the polytonic system.

Content-wise, it's written thematically around a Greek-American family going about various activities. Each chapter has a reading passage with a short vocabulary list and a few questions to answer.
