This is an excellent book and can be a case study on how not to do diplomacy.

There is one weakness, and this is that the book contains a lot of detail that is interesting to a person who has been following the story. Otherwise, it can get confusing.

The lessons are clear, however. There was no strategic consistency between the Democrat & Republican Governments.

You'd expect Presidents to be capable of rising above their prejudices and shallow thinking. Not true.

For me, the book was worth its weight in gold for some of these and other insights. It's fascinating how emotions and prejudice drive international diplomacy. There are valuable leadership lessons in the book.… (altro)
