Don't let the number of pages scare you; i took a deep breath and dove in; and found myself swimming to the end. What a great book bundle! With just enough snippets of history to give it that touch of realism there was a good mixture of action, romance and lasting friendships, as well as a flowing storyline, which made for a very enjoyable read. Will be checking my local library shelves for more of Neil port's books for sure.

This book bundle groups 4 volumes and is not for the faint of heart : the sheer volume of it - on my e-reader, it numbers 2 337 pages - can be daunting, but it should not deter you from reading it.
I have read the four books, and it took me nearly 2 months.
There are action / battle descriptions that can be bloody, but they are balanced with love stories, life lessons and good characters, history and vista descriptions. It was an enjoyable read.

This sequel was even more spectacular in comparison to the first. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, but this one was even more intriguing. Fantastic story line, great writing, and just an all-around wonderful addition to any fantasy collection!

I absolutely love fantasy stories - be they in book form, movie form or even game form. This story was wonderful. Some parts seemed to drag on a little, but I enjoyed the fact that real places were added to the story - making the concept feel a little more realistic.

I received this in e-book format as an added bonus to another book I received in exchange for a review. I wasn't asked to review this one, but I really wanted to. I am glad I got the opportunity to read this, so thank you! :) Great book!½

I was very intrigued by this book. This is the first novel by Neil Port that I have read and I found myself vastly immersed in his writing style. While being the second book in the series, I found it easy enough to follow and was not a loss in the story. The first chapter summarizes enough of book one to understand what is going on. I quickly became more and more enveloped in this story and could not wait to finish it and get my hands on book three. Neil’s writing story is rich and thoughtful in details as you are brought into this one of a kind story. Such intriguing scenarios fill the pages as your imagination fills up on each and every word. Neil gives room for your mind to take over and see the story for yourself but offers plenty on page to lead you along. Such emotion went into this beautifully crafted story and you are taken on an unbelievable adventure. I recommend this novel as a 5 star read. Such a unique and vivid concept! I would recommend to read book one first all though it is not necessary. Thank you Neil for being gracious enough to let me read your novel in exchange for my honest review. 5 stars from me!

A wonderful mixing of Norse lore and adventure fantasy. Very interesting characters and quite busy plot. Publisher's blurb will give some clues, and I suspect that those who have read the later books will enjoy this even more than I did!
Thanks LibraryThing for giving me the opportunity to win this book in a giveaway!

Amazing and a great read! I have read this book throughout the night to the next morning (just past midnight)!! One great thing I liked was how it incorporated real history into the fantasy setting presented in this book.

I was given the opportunity to read this book (E-book format) through the author, who provided it for free on Amazon. To begin, the story plot got more interesting as I read more into the book. At first, I was having trouble following the story due to stumbling on unknown names of people, cities and so on, but was soon starting to memorize them quicker as they were quite unique. From the very beginning, the story had been very descriptive and readers were well informed about what's going on, where it is set and more. Then it moves onto introducing the main character, Hakeem, who goes on a journey or more so, an adventure - this main character was well written, mostly because I enjoyed that fact that he was talented with fighting and had the skills. The interesting part was that the more you read on, the more fascinating of a character Hakeem became, the way he interacts with other characters around him and the way he acts, etc.

As the story unfolds, the more I know about the prophecy and how it begins to become fulfilled. I admit that I did find the book a bit lengthy, however this does not mean that I was not up for the challenge. Also, the book cover is visually pleasant, and had caught my attention from the very beginning. For me, a beautifully designed/artistic book cover and an interesting story plot are the main things that I look for in a book, and I believe that this book has achieved both.

Overall, the way this book is written really captivates you and brings you to open up your imagination. I really enjoyed reading this from the beginning to the end, and look forward to what's to come as the series progresses - hopefully it will only get better.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Defence of Troia From Neil Port is a gripping tale of love, war and loyalty, and needs to be on your reading list. This is the second episode of the Paladin Chronicles, but can be read alone as the first chapter is a summation of the first episode. When I first opened The Defence of Troia I was a little worried whether or not I would like it you see the first thing I thought of when seeing the first few pages was The Hobbit and I've never managed to read that, I did read this one, and I have to say it was an effort well rewarded.

By effort I'm saying this is not one of those books you can read on 'auto pilot', you do need to think about it while reading. I did get lost and confused a few times, but once reading on I was able to piece things together. I will be reading this at least once more, to pick up anything I missed the first time.
