I really, really wanted to like this book, given that it is based upon the author's real life tragedy. As much as I would like to love this book, I just don't. The protagonist is (to me) frankly, unlikeable- from the beginning she sounded spoiled, and seemed to go out of her way to pick fights/push buttons. Her husband's death is absolutely sad, and I'm sure was devastating, but it was an accident. I'm glad that she did bring some good out of terrible circumstances though.

Clunk goes the Coin.
Soulmates are opposite sides of the same coin. I truely loved reading this book. It was sad but also enlightening. I could not imagine losing the love of my life, but this book gave me perspective as what things would be like if I did. I could feel the author's pain as if it were my own.
I enjoyed reading about the spiritual side of this story. The fact she could feel or see her husband in every event after his death. Some of the things she wrote about happening I truely believe in, not experiencing that myself. The red light as referring to his soul; the earth, air, fire, and water elements; the stars in the universe; all uniquely genius.
A Widow's Awakening really made me think about certain topics we take for granted. About things we've been brought up thinking, may not necessarily be the correct thought pattern, that everyone deals with grief differently, that there may be more to Christianity than we already know. I loved this book. It really makes you think. I found myself in tears as I read because it is extremely relatable. (To the author: I am greatfully sorry you had to experience what you did in that moment of your life. You wrote a beautiful story that only got told because of those experiences. Thank you for sharing your story.)

A Widow's Awakening is a work of fiction based on real-life experiences, so many of the conversations, situations, and problems felt authentic and common to many widows. Having read nonfiction works by widows and novels about widowhood, I found this book to be very unique. It was well written and contained detailed information on a variety of topics. What I found fascinating was the way the author was able to tell so many detailed stores without creating a lengthy tome. I really valued what temporarily appeared to be random thoughts, but were so well connected to the overall story. Parts of her story were disturbing, but too real to ignore. Unlike other similar books, this did not send me into a tailspin of depression. I found it uplifting and think anyone interested in family, relationships and spirituality wrapped up in a good story might also appreciate it.… (altro)
