Magee Park Poets

The 2017 Magee Park Poets Anthology is a treasure to read. The poetry is as diverse and rhythmical as the scenic coastlines of San Diego, where most of the poets reside. I am delighted to be one the poets, for sitting among these accomplished word magicians is an honor. Discovering such striking verses as, “I am the water molecules in a drop of rain that make up the oceans of the world,” from Jamie Renee Higgins, to Sophia Farmer’s, “Craft my mouth a beating muscle—atriums bleeding out my teeth. My ventricles in your throat now,” is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. To sink in these words, these emotions, and embrace the imagery from those witnesses of other times and places is what poetry is about. Alive, we are, with verse, when collections such as these are born, keeping poetry vibrant, full of blood, and passed on for others to savor.… (altro)
