- Dorothy L. Pillsbury wrote several volumes of memoirs and observations about life in and around her small adobe home in Santa Fe in the 1940s. She was born in New Jersey and came to New Mexico to study at the University of New Mexico. After doing social work in California, she moved to Santa Fe to become a full-time writer.
In Sante Fe, she developed a deep respect for traditional Hispanic culture and emphasized cultural harmony.
