A sordid police procedural revolving around swinging in Britain, this book only partially delivers on the titillation side, but, surprisingly, a well-described police investigation makes up for it. A policeman is assigned to visit a swingers club with a female colleague as part of an investigation of an employee in the tax office who has a suspiciously large amount of money. The policeman's wife is not pleased, and with their marriage already on the rocks, she decides to check out the swinging club herself--and gets a lot more than she bargained for. This is a quick read, a little too talky at times, but the story does draw you in. Other than a couple of clunky moments, Philpott's writing is effective, although the book does have the usual Kindle typos.… (altro)
