This is the third album released by Peter, Paul & Mary. It has their cover of Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind," "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," and "Quit Your Low Down Ways." I also liked their arrangements of traditional folk songs such as "Hush-A-Bye," "Tell It on the Mountain," "Polly Von," "Stewball," and "All My Trials." It also has one of my favorites, "Long Chain On."

All in all, it is chock full of excellent songs and well worth listening to multiple times. Anyone who likes Bob Dylan, folk music, and/or Peter, Paul & Mary would enjoy this CD I believe.

This is the second album Peter, Paul & Mary released. It is chock full of songs I love, I suspect mostly because it was played frequently when I was a child. The harmonies are rich and there are a wide selection of songs. This album released Puff, the Magic Dragon, a true classic. It also includes This Land Is your Land, a song they are known for performing, along with A 'Soalin.' Other favorites include Gone the Rainbow, Flora, and Tiny Sparrow. I love the energy in Settle Down, Man Come into Egypt, and Big Boat.

If you like Peter, Paul & Mary, I think this an essential recording. If you are just starting to explore folk music or the trio, this is a good place to start listening to their music.

So many memories here! As a child, I learned all of Mary's parts (and wore out the LP). I was delighted to discover the CD. I still sing along.

I love the energy in Early in the Morning. 500 Miles and Sorrow tell such sorrowful stories. This Train, Cruel War, If I Had My Way, If I Had a Hammer, and Where Have All the Flowers Gone are all among my favorite songs of all time. In all honesty, there's not a bad track on this recording.

If you want to hear Peter, Paul & Mary in one of their best releases, then you can start here.

This is the first Peter, Paul & Mary LP that I bought (others belonged to my father). I replaced the worn-out LP with the CD. To me, this is a shining example of what a live recording should be. The songs are quite clear, even though you can hear the audience must have been huge (just listen to the applause!). The introductions to the songs are interesting. The comedy bits are funny and nothing you would worry about sharing.

The music is a mix of folk, politically aware songs, religious songs, and children's songs. Most are well known from studio albums. Some gain a synergy from the live performance. I love the combinaton of music and humor found here.

Who would enjoy this? Anyone who enjoys Peter, Paul & Mary. If you are just starting to explore the group, you might want to try Peter, Paul and Mary (their first recording) first.

Once upon a time my father bought this as an LP. When I discovered it, I played it incessantly. I learned all of Mary's parts and sang along with the songs. I loved the complex harmonies and the stories told. I wore out that LP, even though I didn't realize it.

Flash forward to 2011 and I inherited the LP from my father. I still loved it with all its hisses and pops. In 2012 I realized I would be moving halfway across the country and needed to convert my LPs to CDs.

This was one of the CDs I bought. All of a sudden, the clarity returned. I was a child again, rediscovering this beautiful music.

This CD doesn't have a bad track on it. To understand the dynamics, you have to remember that LPs had two sides and "Wasn't That a Time" with its driving tempo started the second side.

I'd recommend this CD to anyone exploring folk music or who is interested in exploring the musical culture in the mid-1960s. It is one of my favorite albums by the trio.

(And yes, I still sing Mary's part along with them!)

Selections from the PBS television special "A Peter, Paul and Mary Holiday Concert" (1988?); not all have a Christmas connection.
Characteristic of their sixties folk sound.

Mary's vocal on "I Wonder" has some weakness and is too harsh on the high notes.

The quintessential "folk music" group of the 1960s, and some of their best songs. I miss them so much.
