It is a toss up between this book and The Red Ripe Strawberry as to which has been the favorite in our house. Have this book memorized...look carefully, the only animal in all the pictures is an elephant but the cardinal is most...

In this book "My Daddy", a child talks about his daddy. He sees all the things done by his daddy, and everything is done by himself. He sees his daddy doing some things which he can't do like crossing the street alone, brave enough to move the lawn, dive through giant waves, stays awake past nights, he always finds his way back home, and he throws him high like he is flying. He fells good about his daddy.

Gorgeously illustrated, the picture book Snow Princess will impress preschoolers about the potential of snow. In it, a little girl plays in the snow and waits for her father to commute home. In real life she is playing on a snow bank with shovel and sled. But in her imagination she builds a castle, hosts lords and ladies, dances a snowflake dance, rides a white horse and a dragon. To show the readers the differences between the real and imaginary worlds, Paradis uses her illustrations to take the reader back and forth between the two. On each verso page, she uses simple language that a toddler or preschooler can understand like "Daddy is coming home. I will prepare the castle for him." And on the companion recto page we see the little girl playing in the snow with her shovel. But when we turn the page, there are two page, wordless illustration spreads where we see what she has built in her imagination. Careful viewers will notice however that there is a little snow seal hiding on every page where the girl is playing, and increasingly some of her snow friends have migrated from the imaginary world. Richly illustrated in bright acrylics with snow shades of white and blues, Paradis captures the imaginative world of active preschool play. Snow Princess is highly recommended for public library collections.… (altro)
