Poppett Campion intended to go swimming without her parents permission and then went missing. It is thought she drowned and Posy her sister who feels responsible goes for a 'holiday' to her aunt's house. In that very same village Posy encounters a girl who looks very much like the late Poppett and truly is but cannot remeber anything before her 'accident'. Ultimately this novel is highly improbable, romantically idealistic and a pleasure to read and dwell on.
