This adorable rhyming book keeps us counting sheep until the end. The story begins having the readers count the lights, to the cows, colored sheep, to how many jumps the sheep take. We are trying to keep up with the sheep from the beginning to the end and instead of making me sleepy, it has kept me awake! I think this book would be something that young children would enjoy because it is a funny story. They would learn and have fun at the same time. If it was me who was reading this story, I would have my students predict what is going to happen next and how much sheep we would count to the end. The illustration is beautiful, colorful and detailed, and has many humorous pictures to match the humorous scenes.

Counting Sheep to Sleep is a story about a farmer who is ready to get her sheep ready for night time but the sheep aren't ready to settle down. Going to sleep is actually the last thing on their minds. This would be a cute read-aloud for young students to help them practice counting. Every page has different rhymes counting different things going on around the farm as the farmer is trying to get the sheep settled down. The illustrations are big and colorful and will have young children laughing at the illustrators humorous pictures. For example: as the farmer is chasing after the sheep, one sheep is sitting down smiling while eating an apple while the other is trying to get an apple down from a tree. Finally at the end, the sheep had tired themselves out from running away from the farmer and she was finally able to catch them and get them settled down.
