This book can be used for 1st or 2nd graders. It is a very simple book that gives just a little bit of information about some famous historical figures. It gives a little bit of detail about certain times in these historical figures lives. You can use this book to connect to something you are learning about in history if you are learning about one of these people or if you are just learning about the time period that one of these peopled lived in. You can talk with your students about character descriptions and have them see what information they can pick out about the different people mentioned in this book. You can also have them compare and contrast the experiences of two of the people form the book. This book can also be read by students as an introduction to a research project. Since this book gives only a little bit of information, students can read about the different people and pick one that sounds interesting to research more. Make sure you have your students pay attention to the illustrations so that they can get a better understanding of the people that are being explained in this book and also when they may have lived based on the way that they dress.
