Breve biografia
Pál Neubauer was born to a multilingual Jewish family in Vágújhely, Hungary (present-day Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Slovakia), then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His parents were Cecilia (Popper) and Sándor Neubauer, a brewery owner. He initially considered becoming a musician, then studied law in Budapest and worked in a bank. During World War I, as an army officer at the front, Neubauer began his career as a journalist, writing for Pester Lloyd, a German-language daily Hungarian newspaper. After the war, he lived in Prague, Czechoslovakia, writing and translating for Hungarian and German-language publications. He also wrote novels, one of which had a preface by Stefan Zweig. He also wrote a biography of Hungarian composer and musician Jenő Hubay (Eugen Huber). When Nazi Germany invaded Czechoslovakia in 1938, Neubauer fled to Budapest. He survived until the final days of World War II.
