Strange book, Tim-Burton-esque. Good enough, but nothing really special. (Another book where I could use a half-star--I'd give this 3.5.)

There are no words in this graphic novel. The pictures are in the vain of steam punk. They are well done in dark, earthy tones. A group composed mostly of children visit Luna Park. Luna Park looks like a boardwalk park from by-gone days much like its namesake at Coney Island. The group is taken hostage and aided by a magical pumpkin and the park's drunken clown. The lack of words is fascinating and at times confusing, but the book is beautiful. Due to the frightening scenario depicted and the presence of alcohol, this book is not for the very young. Recommended Ages: 8-13½
