Warm

A lovely and warm book. Cat is so real and relatable. As Myles said, the journey to the HEA was hard won, but worth it.

Cute

3.5 stars
This was a cute romcom and I really enjoyed watching Alex grow, and her love story. The scenes with her and Michael were electric! I'll also miss Cat, Geoff, and Henry.

Just like You Know It's Love, I kinda hated the first 30%, enjoyed the middle, and hated the last 15% or so. I'm realizing this author likes the female grovel too and it's just not what I'm here to read. I need more character development from the male MC.

This had a rough start, a decent middle, and an awful end.

Anyway for the most part, I enjoyed the story. My biggest issue was with Cat's personality. Cat was realistic and consistent as a character, she made sense given her backstory... but it was just hard for me to be in her head for this story. She was very judgmental and insecure for much of the book, which was supposed to be her growth through the story, but I loved Myles and it was really hard to read and perceive his actions as written and then read them through Cat's deprecating internal commentary. (Until the end, anyway...)

Something I really appreciated though was that Myles never held Cat's actions against her. He didn't know why, at first, she acted the way she did, but he moved past her issues and accepted her as she was. It allowed Cat to explain things when she wanted to, not because she felt she had to. It reminded me a lot of my relationship with my partner.

I was honestly ready to DNF this around 15-20% because I wasn't being drawn in and I was having a difficult time with Cat's personality (and a few really off comments/attitudes that I'm trying my best to attribute to the character and not the author), but it really turned it around by the 30% mark. I didn't like how the setup was done but I got sucked in about 1/3 of the way in when Myles was a more present part of the story.

BUT THEN. A turning point occurred in the end where Myles was a real dick, and the author pinned all the blame on Cat. I am extremely bothered that Cat, after having a father who left and an ex-husband who is emotionally abusive and manipulating, was told by Myles AND HER BEST FRIENDS to stop being afraid and just get over Myle's deceit. I just can't. Fuck off. Myles didn't even apologize for never telling her before he was confronted.
