Hal Cain is an ex-spec ops cyborg on death row. He is just the guy you need to rescue the spoiled daughter of a doting rich father. I like the sardonic humor of the opening scenes. Once the plot starts, none of the characters in this action thriller are warm and cuddly. Violence is the order of the day. 3 stars.

I said in my review of the last omnibus that I really love the pig dog, Max. Well he really hit his stride in this one. The little snippets where you hear the story progression from his point of view were so much fun! I also liked watching the progress of the many friendships and romances in this series. People who started off as hostile, and ended up allies are one trope I really like in a story. Well done, and I look forward to more from these authors.

Loved it! Following Thaddeus and all of his adventures hasn't gotten old yet. I absolutely love Maximus, the pig dog. His antics are hilarious, and he's a great character by himself. The way the authors grouped these episodes was perfect. Even though exciting things happen in each episodes, I really feel like the last episode in each omnibus is the most exciting. especially in this one. Great choice of narrators.

I love that these are all in compact sections, so I don't feel like I have to listen all at once. of course, I DID binge them like crazy, but I didn't HAVE to. I thought I wasn't going to like the narrator change, but then I listened. Abernathy is a great narrator! I didn't recognize the name, but I definitely recognize his voice. This was an engaging continuation to the story started in the first omnibus, with more depth added. It was nice to see some people get what they deserved, both good and bad. I definitely recommend this series.

I really enjoyed this first omnibus. The characters are easy to like, or dislike, and I'm really rooting for the new sheriff to do well at his posting. There is a good amount of battle violence, but it's not over the top. There is also some flirting and emotional tension, which makes my female heart happy. I first read Martelle in End Times Alaska, and even in post apocalyptic Alaska, his characters had heart. Moon is new to me, and just as enjoyable, if he got top billing on the cover. I also really liked Lumley's narration. He's got that no-nonsense manly-man voice, and doesn't try too hard for the feminine voices, just giving them a female inflection, so it's not like listening to Mrs. Doubtfire, but it's just enough you know a woman is talking. As an avid listener, this is important, UNLESS the narrator can produce a believable female voice. Anyway, I'm sorry they changed narrators for the second omnibus, but I'm still really looking forward to reading more about these characters.

I bought this book because of the Taylor story, "A Change of Plans". I really wish I'd just skipped to the end, it's the last story in the collection, and just read that and left the rest. It's been a slog to get through, and then "A Change of Plans" is so short and then it's over.

However, "The Unsung Heroes of Sublevel 12" by Amy Duboff is a notable exception, rising, appropriately, above the surrounding mire.

Bayonet Dawn by Scott Moon is a book that incorporates sci-fi with fantasy. Not only do you have the great sci-fi space ships but you get to read about sirens, trolls, and all kinds of new creatures that are great fun (unless you have to fight them like our hero and friends). I loved this story. Lots of futuristic waste land and at the same time high tech space ships and space travel. The fantasy is where I really enjoyed it. Great imagination. Loved the character development, the plot, and world building. Loved the strange creatures and unique ideas around each. Received this book to read but review was volunteered by me.

Dragon Land (Son of a Dragonslayer Book 3) by Scott Moon is the third book in this exciting series. Wow, this one was so wild! Dragons, Darklord that was Michael's friend, his girlfriend going full on dragon, his dad is more in the scene but no better, lots of crazier stuff than ever. Loved this book best of all! It was non-stop, nail-biting action packed craziness in other worlds. Minotaurs are not his friends now that his Half-Ton is dead. I don't want to spoil the book, but it is a wild and fun ride!!! He finally does something bad, but good, in there I have been hoping he would do for a while, but I won't spoil it! If you have been reading these books, you might know! Great plot, great characters, will miss this if it is the last.

Dragon Attack (Lost Dragonslayer) by Scott Moon is the second book in the series but could be read without reading the first and the reader would not be lost. This book I liked better, it had a lot more fantasy in it. There are Minotaurs working with the FBI, dragons attacking, hellhounds everywhere, and magic artifacts. This book is FULL THROTTLE action, that is the best way to describe this book! It just doesn't stop or slow down. Our main character is the son of the lost Dragonslayer and everyone from both sides wants him for different reasons. His girlfriend is a Dragon! That alone makes for a complicated relationship. There is still the nut job out there, the sorcerer torturing and killing for power and stealing souls to gain power. This is a fantasy mayhem and our hero, Michael, is right in the middle of it. Fascinating and exciting doesn't even begin to explain this book! Great imagination! Loved it.

Dragon Badge (Lost Dragonslayer) by Scott Moon starts out just as a cop/detective type book but then it soon turns into something much more! I haven't been to the east coast but I don't think hellhounds, sorcerers, demons, soul snatchers, and other strange predators roam the streets there causing havoc. The book is very fast paced, tension filled, mysteries, magic, intrigue, action packed, and scary as all get out at times! Michael Prim, the man cop of the story, what he doesn't know is that he really is a dragon slayer from another world/dimension. I loved this book, can't wait to start book 2.

Son of Orlan (Chronicles of Kin Roland #2) by Scott Moon is another exciting novel with creatures, fighting, battles, and shape shifters. Sgt Orlan has his son here and trying to make a connection to him. Meanwhile, the Mazz army and Reapers and destroying everything, Kin is trying to save his woman and all hell is broke loose. Another great adventure! Orlan's son is my favorite character in the books, poor kid.

Enemy of Man (The Chronicles of Kin Roland Book 1) by Scott Moon is such a good sci-fi book! I thought it would be more of a space soup opera, obviously I didn't read the blurb, but it was more of a stranded on a world and the reader slowly learns from who and why. Then crap, here comes the whos you do not what to come! Yikes, it is so exciting and fun at the same time. My heart was beating out of my chest reading this book. It was so good, an terrific book, I ended up getting all the others so I will slowly get to them. If I start them now, I won't get anything else done! Great job! Lots of twists and turns. Loved it.
