I have been reading a lot of duds lately, so I'm glad that I had this as a palette cleanser. First, this is an original take on urban fantasy/paranormal romance that I really like. We have elves, dwarves, mages and they got here from a cataclysmic 9/11 type event that changed the world as humans know it. Second, I appreciate the use of a creature that isn't a vampire or werewolf. I think we can acknowledge at this point that it is a cliché, a cliché that is acknowledged in universe. The point is that things are not as they seem. The racism allegory is on the nose, but what can you do? Our protagonists have to save the world by preserving this weird mish-mash of realms. It is a fun ride. The only missed opportunity was that the author dropped the thread with the relationship with the father. I really think that should have been the emotional climax of the book instead of having a low stakes version with the brother (who is called Dad 2.0), especially since the book starts with the father and it would have resolved some of the setup from the first chapter.

Wont read another-The good: Original world. Interesting characters.XHRXXHRXThe bad: heroine was not very believable. Her dialogs seem to contrast with how she was written. It made it hard to relate and believe the character

Let me be quite honest. I am not really a steampunk fan, but I thought to give this book a try. Besides how much can you change the old favorites? Well, let me tell you ... a lot! This was a grittier steam punk version of all the most well known and loved fairy tales. I was fascinated. These were fairy tales on steroids.

The best part of it all, so many in one place. I am always attracted to box sets, it's the best place to look for authors that you haven't read before. And what do you know? I've found some new ones that I'm going to be reading from now on.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book

"4 out of 5 stars! A wonderful "epilogue" that proved why I love Larissa and Terak so much! It definitely got me excited again to see where this series will take us next!

I would definitely recommend this novella but ONLY if you've read "Stone Guardian," and hopefully liking it as much as I did!!"

I love fairy tales since I was a little girl. Love them. I could read them every day if I could. Once Upon a Fairy tale: A Collection of 11 Fairy Tale Inspired Romances has them all. Even the classics that I love: Cinderella, Snow White and Beauty and the Beast. But there were some that I was unfamiliar with.

The one that I didn't know the most was, "The Warlord and the Nightingale". It is about a man named Hanzo, a Karakuri (clockwork figure) maker, who is challenged to make a Karakuri worthy of the mighty Lord Mizunaga. I have never heard of this fairy tale and now I know why. I felt the story was short, plain and felt like it was missing something. I got bored right away and was basically skimming through the whole story. The story seemed rushed to me. Perhaps maybe if it was a little longer, it would have been better.

The other fairy tale I didn't know was Loving a Fairy Godmother by Danielle Monsch. This is about a knight who becomes a fairy godmother. This story has the elements I love: a hero who's yearned for the heroine for a long time, the characters call each other on their shit, and the people are lacking contrived motivations. This I liked the most out of all the fairy tales in this book. It was unique and well built.

A Happily Ever After of Her Own by Nadia Lee seemed the most far fetched yet unique. This was the Beauty and the Beast retelling. Basically this was about a girl who can teleport through reading fairy tales and disrupt time continuum, making a evil queen seeing this and takes her evil plan into action. However on how silly this may seem, it was actually a fun unique kind of read.

All the authors did a great job. They are all short length novellas and would recommend to any age (no sexual content).

"4 out of 5 stars, this intensely suspenseful romance will keep you on your toes while it keeps you hoping for more. I enjoyed reading about how these two worlds came together and how some of the "typical" creatures that you read about in other books have other nuances in this one that you wouldn't expect but were intriguing to learn."

My friend Deanna is a gargoyle junkie. She loves reading about gargoyles, and even ordered several for her yard. So she got me intrigued into the idea of gargoyles as main characters... plus I loved the gargoyle secondary characters in [a:Kim Harrison|17054|Kim Harrison|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1435095735p2/17054.jpg]'s Hollows series. I was surprised though when I started the audiobook and I was hit with orcs, werewolves, vampires, dragons, and a whole slew of paranormal characters. Rock on - I love the paranormal world. So I think this series is not focusing solely on the gargoyle clans, but will have a little bit of each species as main characters and romantic interests.

Our heroine is Larissa Miller, a human female who was born during an earthquake in which the magic and human realms became entwined. We see the heartbreaking story of Larissa's father, a law enforcement officer, losing his beloved wife in childbirth. Then we jump ahead more than 20 years to when Larissa is an adult and living on her own, but is still very protected by her father and four brothers. Actually, she has been more than protected, she has been sheltered to the extent that she is nearly ignorant about the other realms and all the paranormal creatures now co-existing in her society. This becomes a detriment to Larissa when, for some unknown reason, she is targeted by a group of paras and is starts undergoing attacks by zombies, orcs and the like.

But an oracle has told our hero, Terak, that the human Larissa will be very important to the future of his gargoyle clan. So Terak has been watching over Larissa and is able to intervene to save her during these attacks. He must get Larissa to accept his protection and discover why she is the focus of this plot. The protection detail obviously brings the pair closer together, but Terak fights his feelings for a good portion of the book. It's not quite a forbidden romance... but more like Terak is trying to follow his clan traditions rather than go with what his heart wants.

I liked Terak - he was a stoic and honorable lead who was all about the good of his clan. He was a tad broody and alpha (always good), but he wasn't a lady killer with a wide swath of broken hearts in his wake. And you don't have to worry about those sexytime skills, for all his virginity, he has read lots of useful books! Larissa was an okay heroine for me, she was a bit too passive for my taste but she wasn't overly annoying. I am not a big fan of willful ignorance, and she definitely had her head stuck in the sand, blindly oblivious to the world around her. It was liked she lived in a bubble created by her father and brothers. She also had one big TSTL moment where I was literally yelling at her. But the romance between Terak and Larissa was sweet and built at a good pace. I hope they continue to appear in future books so we know what happens in their future relationship.

The world building was quite nice and I look forward to more stories in the New Realm. I think that if I would have had more time to dedicate to the audiobook, I would have enjoyed it more. As it was, I was listening for about an hour at a time over the course of a week. This made it hard for me to stay "in" the story, if you know what I mean. So that's no fault of the narrator or author, but more my inability to give this one my undivided attention.

3.5 stars / 3 flames.

I gave it 3.5 stars

A lot of action, a sexy romance and a world full of interesting is waiting for you between the pages of THE DREAM CRAFTER.

Amana is a very rare Dream Crafter who has no idea how to use her powers or what they mean for her and her future. Merc is an extremely powerful and feared mercenary in a bit of a bind. He has a very sought after spellbook and he never expected the beautiful woman in his dreams to steal it right from underneath him. Amana and Merc have a bit of insta-love going on before they officially meet in person and then the crap hits the fan. They end up on the run together (well she is kinda kidnapped, but what does that matter? lol) and the connection never wanes, but it takes them a bit of time to get comfortable and hot with each other.

The world is pretty neat and filled with all different types of people. The story flowed nicely from scene-to-scene, but there were quite a few things that were a little too easy for my liking. I was really hoping to get some sort of update from the couple in book one, Larissa and Terak, I would have loved to see how they are doing. We do get to see a few familiar faces, but I really hope to see all the couples in the same book at some point in the Entwined Realms series.

I think the Entwined Realms series has a nice blend of fantasy and romance going on and I plan on following it into book 3.

No, no harm would ever come to his little human.

So appealing, his little human.

"What type of details, little human?”
“Calm, little human.”

What a world! The world that Danielle Monsch created for her characters was really unique and kept me reading. The opening of STONE GUARDIAN gives you a background on the world and pulls at your heartstrings, the rest of the book pulls you in and makes you want to stay!

The characters are just as fabulous as the world. As the only girl in her family Larissa's father and brothers go out of their way to make sure she is always safe. She is finally out on her and although she lives in a human-only city, the paranormal is about to find her. But wait, here comes Terak to save the day. Terak is a sexy Gargoyle who due to a prophecy has decided to watch over Larissa and keep her safe. His guardianship duty is about to end, his charge has been nothing but safe until the night zombies attack. From that point on neither of their lives will be the same.

Larissa has spent her whole life safe and ignorant of the world outside her human-only city. Her father refused to talk to her about the world outside and until the zombies attacked and Terak showed up she had let it go. She has no clue why she would be targeted and she doesn't want her family to know about anything that is happening. Terak has no clue why Larissa is important to his clans future but he has agreed to guard her anyways. She intrigues him like no other and he can't help but want to keep her safe from harm. He goes against everything his clan approves of to protect her and chooses to continue protecting her even when he's faced with losing his clan. These two are nothing short of opposites but they grow closer and grow a bond deeper than either could have imagined. There is also a great cast of secondary characters which ends up being pretty important. Future books in this series will feature a different couple.

The action was intense, the romance was steamy and the world was great. With the great storyline and fast pace I was never bored. STONE GUARDIAN was a very enjoyable read all around.

LOVING AN UGLY BEAST by Danielle Monsch is an interesting Regency Historical Romance. Magic turned a scarred man into a beautiful man but at what cost? Will his beloved Nissa still love him when the scars are gone? Follow Benton and Nissa's story in "Loving an Ugly Beast", a re-telling of "Beauty and the Beast". Nissa loves Benton scars and all, no matter what but not all scars are visible. An interesting tale of magic, passion and love. Fast paced, quick read! Fairy Tales just may come true after all. I enjoyed these two characters flaws and all. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Net Galley.

At pleasure satellite, anything goes. When Nevan arrives on the planet, he knows the reputation of the infamous rock. As the eldest son of a prestigious house, he has responsibilities that don't allow him much freedom to enjoy the sins that he can buy there. He is destined to marry a woman previously picked out for him, to run his family's house. Life is mapped out. All that changes when he goes to see one of the satellites famous fights and sets eyes on the most beautiful specimen of female he’s ever seen. Too bad she is one of the contestants and is contracted to a slug of a promoter.

Seena has never known life beyond the Blood Ring. One of the satellites best fighters, she attracts visitors from far and wide. When the handsome and rich Nevan comes to her room after a fight, he offers her a bargain of which she has to take notice. Her offers her freedom; if she wins she gets to go free ever, but if she loses he becomes his bed mate. Seena has never agreed to be sold for sex before, but this is different. This is something she wants badly and Nevan stirs things inside her, so the alternative may not be so bad either. When she loses to him, she has to resign herself to becoming his willing sex slave.
What transpires between them is not the mindless sex that either them expected. But what happens on Pleasure Satellite stays on Pleasure Satellite...

I really enjoyed this little read. I’m always a little dubious about sci-fi reads (too many scary alien stories have been read with massive/double peens) but this one was very different. The world building was the big difference here as the “alien species” didn’t really sound dissimilar to our own. The concept of the pleasure satellite made me giggle though; a place where anything goes and no one judges? Sounds like an extreme Las Vegas! That what they chose to do was gamble, use prostitutes and fight was quite depressing but probably quite accurate.

Nevan was a man forced into a situation by his family circumstances. I didn’t seem to be particularly bothered by it so I didn’t pity his predicament. He saw Seena and he wanted her so he bought her time and made her an offer. It was a rather arrogant thing to do and this, along with his treatment of the woman that was destined to be his mate, didn’t really warm me towards him. He did show character growth over the course of the book because he became someone worth drooling over a little, but it was too short a read for me to forgive his earlier sins. I liked the way he stood up for himself and the way his “challenge” to her showed he respected her as more than just a sex toy that he wanted to use. It was a different tactic for an Alpha male.

Seena was probably the most interesting thing in this whole story. She was a rough, tough human who had fought to get herself in a position of safety because her handler was not going to get rid of such a valuable commodity. She didn’t seem fazed by Nevans intended Sexual exploitation of her. She was attracted to him and wanted her freedom; to her this was a win win situation. She didn’t shy away from anything he threw at her and embraced it all. I really enjoyed reading her back story as it enhanced my opinion of the strength of her character. To have gone through all that she had at the hands of her “owners” and still come through as a whole person who kept me engaged was impressive.

At its core, this I thought this story was going to be about sex. There is lots and lots of smutty sex, but I’ll confess I was expecting more from a woman who had allegedly been trained in giving sexual pleasure. What I was surprised was how much the sex progressed the story...as much as this was an erotic book, the sex wasn’t there simply to titillate.

Overall, a sexy short story which kept me turning the pages until the end. Maybe I’ll stop being so snobby about Sci-fi now 

Twenty-six years ago, the unthinkable happened. Two different dimensions clashed causing what is currently known as The Great Collision. Earth’s human realm merged with a magical world that includes: gargoyles, gryphons, shapeshifters, wizards, zombies, vampires, and more.

Larissa Miller was born during the collision. She never knew what the Earth was like before or met her mother who died during child birth. She is an ordinary history teacher living in the human-only part of the city. For unknown reasons, the supernatural world is suddenly interested in Larissa.

Due to a prophecy, Terak, Leader of the Gargoyle, has been watching an unsuspecting human woman for months. Having no idea what makes her so special. Suddenly, on his watch, she is attacked by zombies, and he rescues her. Terak brings the woman to his home, exposing the clan to her human eyes. Now with some help they need to discover why the Necromancers are interested in Larissa.

This is my first gargoyle novel, and I really enjoyed it. Danielle Monsch wrote a wonderful novel that is packed with excitement. Stone Guardian is a well-written creative tale. The characters are well-defined and believable. The story is refreshing and original.

Stone Guardian is a successful first book in the Entwined Realms Series. I look forward to seeing what Danielle Monsch comes up with in the second book.

This was a bit of an odd read for me. However, don't get me wrong, ultimately it was a very satisfying read. It has been classified as Science Fiction/Fantasy or Urban Fantasy but it was more of a romance in my opinion. However, what was interesting is that the mystery aspects as well as the world building held my attention more than the romance aspect did.

The romance between the protagonists did not quite ring true, but everything else about this book was excellent.
On the day of Larissa Miller’s birth, the Great Collision occurred and her mother dies while giving birth to Larissa. During the Great Collision, humans find that they are not alone anymore and that many different species/races now inhabit the once human world.

Twenty-sex years after the world had turned upside down for humans, Zombies are found attacking Larissa. This is quite remarkable since Larissa lives in a ward protected, humans only city. What is even more remarkable is that a Gargoyle swoops in to beat down the Zombies and flies Larissa to safety. An Oracle has told this Gargoyle that Larissa will be important to his Clan and to watch over her.

Of course, this is where the romance angle starts – Terak the Gargoyle’s Clan leader starts forming an attachment to “his little human” and this is where the mystery aspect begins. Why do Necromancers want Larissa? What is it about Larissa that keeps Orcs and Dire Wolves and Dwarves coming at her?

As Terak and Larissa start forming a bit of a relationship, many outside issues are acting as deterrents to their budding relationship. One such issue is the fact that Terak is ‘betrothed’ to someone else but it is merely for the good of the Clan.

Now the main problem I had with this book is that it really needed a better editor; someone who knows a bit about continuity and has a better grasp of grammar and punctuation than I do! If noticed problems, then someone who is more sensitive to these types of things is really going to be annoyed. In the first chapter, alone we have a police officer running out of bullets for his gun and miraculously finding a sword even though there would be no reason for a sword to be there at the time. I was able to overlook most of the problems because the story was so good. The characters are well drawn if a little childish; the secondary characters remind me a lot, of Kresley Coles Valkyries and some even a few of her other characters as well as some other authors characters. I’ve been noticing this a lot lately in this genre. I suspect that it is because the genre deals with such a small mythos.

The world that Ms Monsch has started to build is a fascinating one and quite well built with plenty of room left to expand. A happily ever after is assured! *ARC Provided by publisher*½

This was an amazing paranormal read!!!! Very refreshing and unlike anything I've read before. I love the world that the author has created and cannot wait to see what she has in store for us with this series. I enjoyed all the characters, even Fallon, who is slightly (okay very) rough around the edges. This is definitely a book for all paranormal/fantasy lovers. I will definitely be telling everyone about this book and highly recommend you give it a chance!!!! I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

If you think the story follows the normal fairy tale Sleeping Beauty, forget it. This is where the author goes with her wit and turns everything, bringing a hilarious solution and letting the story much more interesting.

The characters are charismatic.
The pace of the story is good. Considering that it is a version - different - a known fairy tale, the fact that the book is not long, it does not let the story boring.
Positive point: the masterpiece created to end the curse. And I must say that the final revelation took me by surprise.
Negative point: I found the battle with the dragon a little fast. Got the message given by the Fairy Godmother, but still could have been a little more difficult to... (no spoiler!!!)
Indication of the book? >> Sure. A great read for anyone who loves historical romance novels, fairy tales and want something light to read.
If I would read the other books? >> Where can I get them??

Fairy Tales & Ever Afters , Book 3

This was a good remake of sleeping beauty. I figured out where the story was going to go early on though. There was one sex scene it could of done without. I love fairy tales.

The plot is Sleeping Beauty. Rosamund is cursed she will cut herself on a spinning wheel by her 23 birthday and fall into a deep sleep till the curse is lifted. Prince Seth at her birth was made the Princess betrothed. When Prince Seth is around 13 he meets

I like Prince Seth how honor and duty means a lot. He is prince of a neighboring Kingdom. He is willing to do a lot to keep his promise.
He also is a good friend. He admires something about his father but realizes that all is not right.

Kira is a strong woman and is willing to follow her friend Prince Seth. She has some faults which makes her human.

Rosamund you feel sorry for being kept safe in a room without windows all her life with only the King visiting with her until Prince Seth.

The two Kings are not so likeable. They are doing what they feel is right for there Kingdoms.

This is a short novel but entertaining. This is the first book I have read by Danielle Monsch but I would like to read her other stories in the fairytale series.

I was given this ebook to read by Netgalley and asked to give a honest review of it when done.
