- Margaret Minifie was a daughter of the Rev. Dr. James Minifie, a clergyman of Fairwater in Somerset, England. She had a younger sister, Susannah Minifie, later Gunning, with whom she published two sentimental novels: The History of Lady Frances S. and Lady Caroline S. (1763) and The Picture (1766). She also may have been co-author of The Hermit (1770). Margaret also wrote independently Family Pictures (1764), Barford Abbey (1768), and Coombe Wood (1783), previously attributed to Susannah.
