I liked the structure of using a short biography of a famous psychologist to start off on a section of work they inspired. Of course psychology has moved on substantially since this time so many of the findings have been superseded.

I was provided an advanced copy of this book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a history book, and Levenstein is a scholar of women's studies; it is academic in nature and just like the title says, if you were expecting something different you won't see this book coming.

This is an important and necessary book that fills a hole in the timeline of feminism's history that shows where intersectionality gains momentum through evolving technology and redefining what a feminist and feminist discourse is and can entail.

My only criticism is that so much more research has been done since this, but the approach is still valid as is some of the material

Short readable introduction to linguistics whch discusses language evoution and perception scientifically. I'd say anyone who is intereested in language evolution would find this worthwhile as it lays out what has to be accounted for linguistically in explaining evolution
