This is the story as told by Lt Frederick Mears about his first year of combat during WW2. His training, combat experiences aboard the Hornet and at Guadalcanal. It was written presumably after his return to the States after his first year of combat 9Dec 1942). He was unfortunately killed soon after at Guadalcanal. It is a very informative and interesting read about his experiences, feelings, and what it was really like to be in combat during WW2.
