Grandma's Face Tells Her Story
Grandma's face is made up of many features and she can show all sorts of emotions with them. Grandma is an individual who can whistle through her teeth, turn cartwheels with her eyes and make her granddaughter laugh. A cute bedtime story. Very simple coloured pencil drawings. Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book.
Once again, I find my inner-child getting to the heart of what this book is about. The author’s decision not to give the little girl in this story a name allows all readers of this book to pretend that they’re her, and that the Grandma is theirs.
The sad thing is that while young children like the girl in this book are able to pick up and sense the ever so slight nuances of the facial expressions of people like that of their Grandmas. As we get older and become adults, the childhood innocence we once had gone, along with our inherit ability to perceive and understand facial expression has continuously been diminishing.
This is charming, well-illustrated picture book perfectly geared for its target audience which is why I’ve given it 5 STARS.… (altro)
