I've read several Ellora's Cave anthologies over the years and quite enjoyed most of them, but this was not my favorite book. For some reason, the stories didn't seem to go together for me. (I prefer anthologies where the stories are similar genres.) That's not to say that I didn't enjoy a couple of them. I did. It's just that on a whole they were so different that I had trouble getting into the anthology. If you don't mind different genres/themes, then check this one out.

Compilation of 6 short novellas. Paranormal Romance.
Earthly Pleasure- B J McCall. Renee Tremaine maintains a sanctuary for celestial warriors to rest and recuperate on Earth. Itan was chosen to seed the female called Renee. OK-
Erotic Sacrifice- Cynthia Rayne. As reparation for the Salem Witch Trials, locals have made a pact with demons. The Dark Lord demands a young woman for a sex ritual, Bronwyn volunteers. OK-
Hot under the collar- Katie Blu. Emma can't get Reverend Johns out of her mind. Her bakery makes day-old bread donations. Eric is an undercover cop chasing a drug ring. OK
Incensed- Kate Hill. Cyril allegedly matches soul mates through the use of magical incense. Cori challenges and finds it's him. OK
Making the Madam- Delilah Devlin. Newly widowed Merry Winslow treks west to claim an unexpected brothel inheritance. Nathan Boone helps her adjust. OK
The Emissary- Jenna Reynolds. The potentially hostile Kjartans send an Emissary to the Hegemony, who requests the services of a courtesan. Shina is a virgin courtesan. OK-

“Power struggle with heat to melt the Ice”

Political struggles abound in this story of mystery and intrigue...but Princess Tayra of Glacid is smart enough to outwit everyone...so she thinks. She is currently under her uncle’s protective custody because her own father mysteriously disappeared. Her uncle has gathered the warlords and is now leading them away from peace with Sark.

Lord Chancellor Aaxis Thrane of Sark captures Tayra and sets into works his plan to join the two worlds by impregnating her and reinforcing this alliance with a political marriage. He knows she is in her fertile time but faces the predicament that conception is only possible with her orgasm.

Very interesting dilemma, both Tayra and Aaxis want peace between their worlds but are so stubborn that their goal seems unattainable. The erotic interplay between the hero and heroine is intense and very passionate. Tayra is a strong clever woman who is just the leader Glacid needs.

If you like an intelligent erotic sci-fi read, this is for you. Fast paced but requires some concentration, the story lines twist and turn. Some interesting safeguards on rape.½
